We live in a very rural area so no daycare facilities to take our little one to. People here take their children to women who offer daycare in their home. I have found a woman who my sister-in-law is taking her 2 children to and she is very happy but I want to know from you guys what I should look for and ask. I have found that nearly all of these women who offer day care are not trained in cpr and are lacking any certifications. We do have a few centers close by that take toddlers and older but no infants. Any suggestions? I would love to stay at home but we cannot afford me not to work part-time.
Thanks ladies
Re: rural area what to look for in daycare
I was a teacher, and when I returned to work, I went to my church and asked in the office if they could ask around, to see if anyone was interested in babysitting for us. We had a very loving, supportive of AP and all of our wishes, lady who loves babies, come to our house 2 days per week. I don't know if you have a resource like a church or club or something, but you could try to find someone who could come to your home, give your child one on one attention and interaction.
As far as daycares, I would look for education and experience, and try to find the lowest teacher-child ratio possible. That might not be too difficult if you are looking at in-home daycares. Also, I would make sure that they are 100% on board with your parenting decisions. Good luck!
Caring for infants and/or children and not being certified in infant/child CPR is a huge red flag for me.
