Ok, FTM here... I have no idea what is going on in my body right now. I have no idea what real contractions feel like, but for about the last hour and half to two hours, I have felt horrible! I have had really bad cramping and where I can feel the baby, it is hard as a rock! Then, it seems to get softer and less painful for a little bit. It has been pretty constant, so not really timeable. It doesn't last for very long, maybe 15-30 seconds, but it starts to get hard and crampy again within a couple of mintues.
I have been drinking lots of water and trying to change positions, but nothing is really helping. So, does this sound pretty normal? I don't feel like I am actually going into labor, but I also don't want to down play it all so much that I ignore something that I should be calling the dr for. I am trying to stay calm and not be an alarmist, but like I said, I don't want to not call the doctor if I should be more concerned... thoughts?
Re: Yes, another contraction ?
I posted the same thing the other day. The consensus was that it's pretty normal, to call the dr if they start lasting 1 minute every 5 minutes for 1 hour, and that if it made me feel better to call the dr.
I'm like you...I don't want to be THAT girl that calls the doctor over something that is normal...or gas...but I found that using the restroom and then taking a nice long shower made the contractions slow down for a bit. That was a couple of days ago, and I still have no baby, so I guess it was nothing to worry about. :-) HTH!
Try getting up and walking around. If they stop you should be good, but if they continue through your change in movement & position I would most definitely call! Honestly, at this stage in the game, you are NOT that girl! Those are contractions for sure, how bad is the pain that comes with them? Does it stop you in your tracks? Do you have a hard time talking through them? Back pain? These are also things that you will want to look for in "real labor" Some women never even get "real" contractions. If they continue after walking around I would call.
