11 Weekers Sleeping?

Our babies are 11 weeks and I feel like they sleep all. the. time.  Wierd to be complaining about babies sleeping but seriously all they seem to do is sleep!  They never appeared to hit the big growth spurts a lot of people mention at 6-8 weeks, we just increased their bottles to 4oz every 3 hours while they are awake and then they do a 9 hour stretch at night.  We put them to bed around 9, and they sleep until 6am, then they usually go right back down (they fall asleep while taking their first 6am bottle).  Today I had to wake them at 9 to eat, then they slept again until their noon bottle, woke up hungry, ate.  Then we went out and ran errands through which they always sleep.  We came home, fed them again at 3pm, they were awake for like 40 minutes and then back to sleep.  Another bottle at 6pm, then sort of awake a little bit, another bottle at 9 and then bed.  They are not always finishing their 4 oz, but more often than not they do.  I am at a loss, I play with them, read to them, talk to them but I really can't make them stay awake.  They are growing well, almost doubled their birth weights but they are so tired.  Any suggestions on things to do differently or is this just normal?  I have tried to start the EASY schedule but they sleep too much to really do much with that.  They do nap in their cribs and they are in seperate cribs at night also.  I'm just getting concerned enough to call their dr just to make sure nothing is wrong?  If it matters, they were 4 weeks early.  Thanks so much for any ideas or advice!

  • While I have no clue as to whether or not its normal, you're not alone. Our girls are 10 and a half weeks and they also sleep a TON.  I try to keep them up a little more than they'd like during the day so they'll sleep at night, but they pass out during their bottles most often, and will sleep until I wake them up for the next bottle.

  • Adjusted age is 7w, right?  My boys will be 7w adjusted on Saturday and are the same way.  It's totally normal.

  • If their adjusted age is 7 weeks, mine slept a ton then too. As long as they are eating and happy when awake, I wouldn't worry, they're growing!
