I really like this name. Although to be honest, I do have a hard time picturing it on a child since it is such a strong name, but I love it because of how strong and how classic it sounds.
It's my twin sister's name. I see it on here some. Maybe b/c I notice it since it's my sister's name? It gets mixed reviews from posters. It's sort of a harsh name and the nn options aren't so great. My sister is only Meredith, no nn's for her.

I'm surprised at how often I see it suggested on this board. Same with Natalie. They both seem a little dated to me since I knew several growing up. But it's a nice underused name.
I see it suggested from time to time, but rarely asked about. I actually went to uni with 4 of them. I taught a Meredith a few years ago too, but he was a boy (it's originally a male name).

(Are you on the baby train again?! )
God no....my H took it upon himself to fix the baby makin' situation around our house three weeks after the babies were born. lol-
It's good to see you around....I miss the old timers. I hope you're well queen...

First thought? "God, Meredith, where are your panties?!" quote from The Office.
I like it okay, I'm just not sure I could ever use it after watching so much of the office, but I wouldn't think twice about someone else using it for their daughter.

LOL! DH is already planning to take care of things the spring after we hopefully have a 3rd. He read about clinics offering March Madness vasectomy packages and he thinks that is the best idea EVER.
My sister suggested it when I was pregnant but I'm not a fan. Sounds kind of stuffy or something to me. Although I also think of Meredith from Gray's Anatomy or Meredith from The Office.

I would like it had I not known a super snobby girl that was 3 years older than me in HS. She thought she was God's gift to the human race and I've never liked the name since.
This is one of those names I don't like and can't determine why. It's a decent sounding name and I have no ill-feelings towards any Meredith's I know...I just don't care for the name.

This. I had a couple of college friends who went by Mer for short. I think it is a very strong name.

Re: Very rarely see this name posted...
I actually knew a bunch of Meredith's growing up--it is actually my college roommate's name.
I agree--not very common nowadays at all. I teach elem. school--and in 6 years, I don't think I have come across any Meredith's.

I also really like the similar Edith!
I taught for 11 years and only came across one Meredith.

I grew up with two great girls named Meredith; one used "merrie," the other her full name.
I love it.
A friend just named his son Meredith. It's strong for a male or female; I actually like it for either.

Freakin' Love it.
It's very classy and fun IMO. It's on my long list.
I know a couple Merediths and they're all super sweet outgoing girls you'd want to have lunch with.
