Morning ladies
So I started getting an insane headache yesterday afternoon which lasted all night. It seemed better when I was asleep (obviously) and laying in bed, but then when i got up this morning it was immediately back. It concerns me because I haven't had a single other headache this whole pregnancy, and everything I'm reading says it's common in first tri, but not so much the second and third.
I'm probably also a little paranoid because I just talked with a friend who was diagnosed with HELP and one of her first symptoms was a headache that just wouldn't go away. ![]()
So what would you all do: call the doc or just suck it up and plow through it?
Re: headaches-WWYD
In my last pregnancy, I had a headache for a month. Seriously. All day every day. Everything was fine. What helped me was heat on my neck, and massaging my neck. I would also let the hot water in the shower run on my neck, and massage it while the water was running on it. Also, I would occasionally take Tylenol. This was in the beginning of 2nd tri. Hope your headache goes away soon!
ETA: I just noticed that you said your headache was "insane." I should add that mine was never that bad. It was more of an annoying pain than anything else.
This. We are allowed to take tylenol. And try and get some sleep. I know that always helps me.
Could it be sinuses? I've been having a lot of headaches lately but I think pregnancy is just making my allergy issues even worse.
Tylenol and Coke (not diet) has helped with my headaches. I like to drink a Coke and then a bunch of water - you could also be dehydrated and not realize it if you're peeing a lot.

Thanks ladies. I'm glad to know there are others experiencing the same thing. It's just really throwing me for a loop since I never had this with DD, and what with my friend's experience...
Anyway, I'm definitely not a medicine taker, but I had DH get some tylonol last night because I just couldn't handle it anymore. I'll probably take some more here soon, and call if it's keeps up maybe into tomorrow. Thanks again!
I would probably give it another day. My longest headache in college was 5 days - I ended up at the nurses on campus crying! Try a relaxing shower, a little caffeine & a tylenol. If you do any errands today feel free to check your BP at a pharmacy store because BP changes can cause headaches.

I get headaches a lot now that I'm in 2nd Tri (even now as I type it is pounding). I brought it up to my doctor at my last visit and he said it was a normal symptom of pregnancy and to do what others here have been suggesting (Tylenol and a small Coke). He also said that if the Tylenol does not provide relief that I can take ibuprofen in 2nd and 3rd Tri but I haven't had to do that yet and would definitely get the okay from your own doctor before taking ibuprofen.
Keep track of it, though and if it does not go away or even lessen with some intervention, then I would be concerned.
As I moved into my 13th week, the nausea went away and the headaches came. I did read somewhere that might happen. So far, I've only gone a few days without taking any Tylenol. I think I've only had to take 2 doses once so far. I use ice packs. Helps some. Sleeping helps a lot too (I'll go to bed with an icepack behind my head/neck).
I've been getting really bad headaches for the past few weeks or so. I use to only get them at night and would usually cure it by forcing myself to sleep. The last week or two they've started showing up midday. I just try to power through it and keep myself busy. When it becomes too extreme I take Tylenol or drink a diet coke. Both seem to help, but they don't get rid of it completely.
If it makes you feel better, my OB said I should start to see them fade around 16 weeks or so. Luckily (knock on wood!), I'm on day 2 of no headaches! I'm hoping they're few and far between from here on out.
Feel better!
