  • DH and I already started. We found mistint paint that matched the 'theme' for our nursery perfectly for dirt cheap so we started assembling it all 2-3 weeks ago.

We've also been hitting up the local 2nd hand children's stores and have found some GREAT stuff there. all gently used for dirt cheap.

  • December probably, I'll look for ideas after we find out the gender in late Sept/early Oct. My shower will most likely be Thanksgiving weekend, so after that is when we'll probably start putting the nursery together.

Thats exactly what we are dong as well! I will buy the safety items(crib, carseat, etc) brand new but anything else I will enjoy browsing the consignment shops for furniture and any other items. Have many around here that have great stuff that you couldnt tell was previously used, for great price! Win, Win!!

  • I've already started - slowly but surely.  We won't know the genders so that part doesn't matter so much.  I haven't done any serious decorating in there, just rearranging, getting it ready, putting in all the neutral stuff we already have etc.  I'll start doing more around 16 weeks. I want to have it done earlier this time because of risk of bedrest, preterm labor etc.  oh to be high risk...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't mind second hand. One of the ladies at work was telling me I should go brand new everything since it's my first child. I'd rather be able to afford more children than go broke before I even have one!!

  • We started.  I have to get new carpets in so we are doing that this summer.  We have pulled the old carpets.  I am going to get DH to paint the room.  We have a pink stripe going around it from when it was my scrapbooking room.  I am going to paint it Navy.  We are repainting the radiator and laying new carpets.  All hopefully by September.

Because I am an AW....Heres the rug image

and here is the fabric for the curtains and maybe a crib skirt.

     image

Boy or girl the room will be Navy, Tan and White.  I will put some specific girl or boy accents in when we find out what we are having.

  • I'm determined not to find out the gender so we are trying to have everything done by mid September. Then we won't feel the need to find out =) We have just picked out very bright primary colors and the wall color will be a yellow/orange. Once LO is here we will add a few more gender things. I want to put their name above the crib so that will be one thing that we add.
  • Probably as soon as we find out the sex.  Until then, I will be narrowing the themes down to 2 (one for a girl and one for a boy).

  • we will be moving next June so we won't be doing a nursery as such LO will stay in our room until we move into our new place. We won't start buying things for the baby in any theme crib sheets (etc.) until we find out the sex of the baby.

  • We will as soon as we find out. If it's a boy the nursery will stay the same but if it's a girl we have a lot of work to do.

  • Well, it will be a few months.  We are going to convert an unused formal living room into a study, move the guest bedroom to the current study and convert the current guest bedroom into the nursery.  Even without the renovation, we will wait until after we find out the sex since I have ideas that are gender specific.  I made most of my daughter's nursery (drapes, bedding, artwork, etc) and plan to do the same this time around.
  • I've already started. I bought a few things for frames and we have the bigger items (dresser, crib, recliner). If DH and I could agree on a paint color we'd be painting soon.

  • I already know what the "theme" will be, and the main colors. I've been picking out furniture, but I don't think we'll put it together until we know if it's a boy or girl.

  • I started at 20 weeks - right after we found out it was a boy. This time, we're in no rush since we aren't finding out the gender. I have a pinterest board if that counts ;)
  • How exciting!

We have a roommate right now, so we can't start decorating the nursery until he's out of the room *laughs*.  He is moving the second week of September though, so we'll start then :).  I'm trying to decide if I want it to be gender specific or not.  I really like the idea of polka dots of various sizes no matter what and there's a cute set of bedding on Amazon that has circles and dots in orange, yellow, green, and chocolate brown.  I think that would go with either gender.

What colors are you thinking about?

  • I have a room pinned that I would like to do, we have some extra work that needs to be done before we can do the fun decorating. H is ready to paint the trim and ceiling, and we are tossing around the idea of stripping and refinishing the hardwood.

It's animal themed. I loves it.

I guess in theory I'm already starting because right now I'm clearing out the guest room of all of the random junk we have accumulated over the years.....right now I have four huge boxes to donate to goodwill and several bags of trash to get rid of!

We're also getting a storage unit to store the bed/mattress from the guest room and all of the christmas decorations that hide under that bed and in the guest closet. So we're kind of pre-decorating (basically trying to get to a clean slate!!)

And whenever we're done clearing out, we'll start decorating more seriously around october'ish.  I want as much done as possible before the holidays!

Basically this, although I'm not as far as Suz. We are cleaning out the closets in both extra rooms, will consolidate what's left, move the workout stuff to the garage, move the guest room/office into the workout room and have one room mostly empty to being the nursery.

After we find out the sex and have our showers, we will get more serious about setting things up. I can't wait until I'm "out" with the news so I can start pinning freely!

  • DH and I started with this topic last night.  The closet in our spare room is currently DH's so we'll have to do some clearing out/consolidating of closets first.  Then we need to get rid of the furniture in the spare room and DH is putting in a ceiling fan.

We have the boy theme picked out so we'll just have to nail down a girl theme and once we find out what we're having it'll be game on.

I'll probably start looking at furniture after our NT scan too, that's on the 6th!

  • Not decorating until we find out the gender, but I do want to start looking at large items such as the crib and dressers. I know that I want a darker colored crib that transitions to a full size bed.
  • As we aren't really set on if we are going to find out their sex or not, we have already started to accumulate things for the nursery.  The room is already painted a denim blue so that will stay.  We are working now on getting everything out of it ready for the furniture that we will start to buy after our NT scan.

We are going with bright colors and some Dr. Seuss splashes. I will sew most of the blankets, curtains, and crib protectors.  My mom found these mobiles and had them made for us and we just got them Friday. There are two of them with small difference between them and I am in love!!!!!

  • Probably after we find out boy/girl.  Really I need to decide for sure if we are keeping DD in the smaller room and using the guest room as a nursery, or moving DD to the guest room with a full size bed and just using the nursery again.  I can't decide because if we move DD, she would have to walk past the nursery on squeaky floors to get to her room, which might be bad during nap times.  But if we do move her we get to keep a full size bed, instead of just getting her a twin and moving the crib to the big room.  Decisions decisions...
  • We won't do anything big until we know the sex of the babies, but we have rearranged some furniture and moved our desks out of the office (now nursery). My mom said they would buy our furniture, but I don't want to be like, "okay, we want the stuff now..." so i am sort of waiting on her too, but luckily I have plenty of time! =D

  • I don't plan on decorating a nursery at all. There is room for baby in our room. Half of my dresser is empty and I have a ton of room for clothes in my closet. We really don't need a nursery and I'm not one much for decorating anyway. I'd also like to get out of this house some time next summer. I love our house...hate our neighborhood.
