DH and I had our second opinion appt today. It did not go well. We liked and respected the doctor, but he didn't tell us anything we wanted to hear (which we are, in a way, thankful for, because our current doctor is perfectly happy to keep pumping us full of drugs that probably won't help, and see us continue to lose babies.)
He would like to test for aneuploidy, which is a chromosomal thing. Basically, it would be IVF with additional genetic tests on the actual embryos themselves. If any are normal, we would proceed with the IVF cycle. If not, we're basically screwed.
That sound you heard? That would be all our dreams flying out the window. Not just the baby-related ones, but also the one where we ever get out of debt or buy a house since it looks like we'll be taking out an IVF loan instead of a mortgage.
There aren't even any appropriate words to describe how utterly devastated, hopeless, and broken we feel right now. I don't know if I can do this...
Re: Second Opinion - not what we wanted to hear
I don't have any advice, just lots of
*big squishy hugs*
I'm so sorry you didn't hear what you would have liked to hear. It is so unfair.
(((HUGS)))
I'm so sorry, Red. It's good that you got a second opinion, but my heart breaks for you that you had to hear such devastating news. ((HUGS))

Thank you. I may take you up on that. Right now, we're too busy crying and worrying to really have given it much thought, but if we decide to proceed with it, I'm sure we'll have a ton of questions. Thank you so much for offering your support.
I will be waiting with bated breath to hear how this cycle turns out for you. FX!

*siggy warning*
I am so very sorry. I have definitely been on the receiving end of the news that IVF with PGD was the only thing that the RE world had to offer us.
Have you consulted with a reproductive immunologist? They are somewhat hard to come by and the science behind reproductive immunology is much newer than the older more established science behind reproductive endocrinology. After our 4th loss we were told by two REs that our RPL results showed nothing and our only hope other than to keep rolling the dice was IVF with PGD. DH and I agreed to roll the dice one more time, but were going to insist on a reproductive immunology consult before considering the financial investment of IVF with PGD. We never made it that far in our journey, but it's definitely what our next step would have been.
Really reputable RIs are few and far between, but I am happy to give you the names and locations of the ones that were recommended to me in all of my research if you are interested.
GL to you. I'm so sorry again.

Red, I am so sorry.
This has been suggested to us, as well. My husband refuses to go down the IVF road, so it is not in the cards for us.
I hope that you find peace in whatever decisions you make.

Thank you. I did look into this, but really just came to a dead end. I asked both the REs we've seen about this, and they seem to think it's not "real" medicine, and that it's not evidence-based. I would gladly take any information you are willing to share. Please PM me with your thoughts and recommendations. We really would like to explore other options, but just feel like we're at a dead end.
Thanks again.
