What are YOU wearing home from the hospital?

I'm at a loss for what to wear home. I was thinking black yoga pants but won't I be wearing a big huge bulgy pad? I wasn't even planning on bringing undies to the hospital but won't the mesh ones bunch up under tight yoga pants?

Also, I have no clue what to wear on top. I have 2 nursing tanks packed but I will want to wear something over them. I think it would be a little warm outside to wear a cardigan. Ugh I'm clueless!!

Re: What are YOU wearing home from the hospital?

  • I packed maternity yoga pants, a nursing tank and a cardigan. And a maternity dress just in case, because I've heard that wearing pants if you have a c-sec can be uncomfortable.

  • I'm in the same boat...interested to see what other have to say! I was thinking along the same lines as yoga pants and a loose top...but now that you mention the pad and mesh undies it doesn't sound like a good idea. Maybe a flow-y dress?

  • Meh, I'm just going to wear pajamas like last time. No one will be there when we leave and no one will be at our house when we get home.  IF any one is at my house I will be very unhappy.
  • Loose black yoga pants (most likely my maternity ones), nursing bra, and a loose tank top or t-shirt.

  • I've packed pretty much the same... black yoga pants, nursing tank top and a lightweight cardigan.  For us it's only a 15 minute drive back home and I figure between that, and the air conditioning, it'll be ok until we get home and I can ditch the cardigan. :o)

  • I'm wearing yoga pants, but I've always had nice loose yoga pants, they aren't tight.  I also packed a nursing tank, and I got a very lightweight short sleeved cardigan from Old Navy.

You shouldn't have problems with the mesh undies bunching, unless your pants really are skin tight!

  • I packed a loose summer dress.  I'll be having an RCS and the incision site is pretty brutally sore the first few days/weeks.  No pants for me.  IF I need to I'll wear my maternity jammies home, that's what I plan on wearing in the hospital for most of my stay.  But I think it'll be nice to put on some real clothes to leave.

This. From what I remember, it felt like I was wearing ruched boycut ladies underwear.

  • I am bringing 3 flowy dresses with stretchy necklines to the hospital, my pj pants are all too small and I will want to wear something of my own at the hospital. I will probably be living in these dresses after I get home too.

Haha! This is what I'm afraid I'll feel like wearing rather than yoga pants and a tight tank top! But I'm guessing I won't give a sh!t what people at the hospital will think of how I look and none of my family members will be at the hospital or at my house when we return.

  • I'm packing a jersey skirt (one of the merona ones from target) and a maternity t-shirt as well as a tank in case it's hot. I wore a skirt and tank home with my last child and was really comfortable. Did yoga type pants with my first two and had no issues with the mesh undies bunching or anything like that.

  • I wore VS pink loose sweats, a nursing tank and a zip up hoodie home with DD and will probably be similar for this one.  THe mesh panties at my hospital were really thin and boyshortish, so I could totally put them under tight yoga pants without major issue.  Plus you are literally going into a car and home, so who cares about panty lines?!?

  • Since I'm having a scheduled c-section, I just got a nightgown from Target that still works as a dress, since pants are a no go.  It looks like it would be easy enough to breastfeed in, as well.

I'm not as concerned with people seeing my underwear lines but the fact that they are so bulky that they would bunch of with yoga pants and not be comfortable/make me leak in the car.  Sounds like they must not be as bulky as I'm imagining.

  • I'm planning on bringing a few things and deciding what I'll be most comfortable in when the time comes. Yoga pants, loose nursing tops, and light cotton dresses are all being thrown in.

  • I've been living in nursing tanks the last week or so (Since I just discovered them) and throwing a vest over them so I feel somewhat presentable. I think this will be my plan for the hospital. Also, a long, loose dress just in case.
  • A loose summer maternity dress.  It was either that or a jersey skirt from ON and a t-shirt.  Last time I wore yoga pants, a tank top, and a matching jacket for the pants.  I REGRET it.  First of all, dummy me bought regular clothes in like a medium.  I had no idea I would still look 6-7 months preggo.  So I had major muffin top.  So thats why I'm taking a loose comfy maternity dress this time.

They are the exact OPPOSITE of bulky, in fact, they are even less bulky than a pair of lace panties.  I don't know how to describe them...think fishnet stockings, only 5 times as stretchy.  That 's the best comparison I can make.

The ones I got were like nylon... It was like someone cut the legs off a pair of nylons... really really loose nylons :)

    I'm bringing a pair of these... https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=888322&locale=en_US&kwid=1&sem=false&sdReferer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bing.com%2Fsearch%3Fsetmkt%3Den-US%26q%3Dold%2Bnavy%2Bloung%2Bpants%2Bwomen

I'm pretty sure it's what I wore home last time, also... with a hoodie, but it was fall/winter. I'll probably do these pants, a nursing tank & maybe a zip up jacket w/ flip-flops... it really depends on the weather.

  • I wore the mesh undies with a nursing tank and a flowy v neck dress. No bulk and still could get to the boobies :)

  • I was planning on wearing yoga pants/nursing tank home from the hospital, but after being stuck in hospital for 6 days (and seeing all the cute Czech girls go home in dresses), I decided to wear my maternity jean skirt and a loose fitting shirt. It wasn't ideal for nursing, but I felt so much better (after wearing a hospital gown for 6 days) and it was nice for the picture. Just a thought! But I would say whatever you feel comfy in.

This exaclty.  I wore yoga pants and a t-shirt when DS1 came home from the hospital, and it will probably be similar this time around.  The mesh panties aren't bulky at all--they're just super comfy!

  • Maternity yoga pants since they are a little roomier and I have a over sized Tshirt.. like the shirts you get from participating in an event. Loose, comfortable is what I aim for.

  • Planning on a black maternity sundress.  I'll also have some cropped flowy yoga pants and a nursing tank too if that is more comfy.  I think just about everything I'm packing is black.  LOL

  • I'm bringing a few things and seeing what works best. I have black yoga pants and a flowy top, and I also brought a knit maxi dress that looks really cute but feels like pajamas. I'll probably end up going with the knit maxi, I bet.

  • I packed my most comfortable track pants that are pre-pregnancy but still fit me now, so I'm not worried if they will fit or not. And I have a couple shirts to choose from, depending on how I feel when I'm getting ready to leave.

  • Much like everyone else, I'm going to take some comfy stretchy pants, a nursing tank and cardigan, and a nursing sleep bra and maternity shirt.  We'll see what fits comfortably!  We have a 45 minute drive from hospital to home, so I'd like to be comfortable.
  • Last time for me I was absolutely craving my own stuff.  I did not need those big diaper pads and mesh underwear after the first 24 hours at all, so I downgraded to granny panties and my own pads (super absorbent but so much thinner and more comfy than the hospital ones).

So my outfit was yoga pants, nursing tank, granny panties and flip flops -- and will be the same again.

  • Since i'm all about going home pictures, I'm either going to be wearing a maternity jean skirt with a nice shirt that is a bit "flowy" sp? or the skirt with a nursing tank and cardigan. I will see how I feel when the time comes. With DD1, I had worn the maternity skirt with a nice shirt and it worked for me.

  • A knit maternity dress and a t-shirt.  I figure it will be the most comfortable and I can change when I get home because we're less than 20 minutes from the hospital.  I just wish I knew when it was going to happen!

  • I'm wearing loose yoga capri pants (actually they may be PJ pants) from old navy and a nursing tank.  I might bring a regular maternity tank to layer over the nursing one.

I had a c/s and no problem wearing pants last time but I did have to hike them way up so they were away from my incision.
