Bump Fruit sizes???

Anyone else find their sizes a little weird?  Or maybe the papayas around here are just obnoxiously huge compared to most.  But the papayas (this week's fruit) at the store today were about 50% bigger than the grapefruit (next week's fruit.)  Or are they going by weight instead of length?  Because rutabagas are 27 weeks, despite all being smaller than grapefruits (23 weeks).  But weight doesn't make sense because eggplants and cucumbers come after cantaloupe... And coconuts are 35 weeks, despite being slightly smaller and lighter than grapefruits...  What is WITH their fruit comparisons???

  • Yeah, they're weird. Lemons and limes are pretty much the same size here, and peaches are a lot bigger than lemons but I'm in the South so maybe they're bigger here. I think it's just a general idea and not an exact measurement.

  • It's crown to rump length, not weight and it's just to give you a visual, not exact.  Although, I would typically agree.  Limes tend to be smaller than lemons, a rutabaga would be larger than a grapefruit, and yes, I would think that papayas and grapefruit are about the same size, I could see how a grapefruit could be a little larger and it's only a week's difference.  Most of the time I feel like the comparisons make sense.

  • At our first u/s, my husband asked the u/s tech "so it's the size of a prune?" She then proceeded to laugh at us and said everyone always asks about the fruit. She said I don't know about a prune but it's an inch long.

I take the fruit with a grain of salt = )
