Yesterday I felt the most intense pressure I have ever felt on either side of my abdomen, kinda lower down. It didn't hurt extremely bad, but it was extremely uncomfortable! Does anyone know if this could have been Braxton Hicks? It lasted about 20 seconds and then disappeared.
I told DH about it (he's in med school so he thinks he knows everything) and he said surely not, but I want to hear from people who are actually pregnant! Ha!
Re: What do Braxton Hicks feel like?
Symptoms
They should be infrequent, irregular, and involve only mild cramping.[1]
[edit]Cause
Braxton Hicks contractions are a tightening of the uterine muscles for one to two minutes and are thought to be an aid to the body in its preparation for birth. Not all expectant mothers feel these contractions. They are not thought to be part of the process of effacement of the cervix.
[edit]Alleviating factors
Sounds like BH to me. They can vary in intensity from contraction to contraction and from person to person. If you notice you are getting a few back to back try putting your feet up and drinking a lot of water. If that doesn't help then I would call your Dr.

This is me exactly. I was wondering if that was BH and you describe what I have been having happen to me more regularly lately. Thanks! According to my last Dr at the last appointment I should be getting them more frequently as my cervix has softened and was starting to open up.
