We baby gate the kitchen off more for the dog than the baby.

I am irrationally upset I have no idea what we're doing for Los' cake since I have no idea where to get a pretty dairy free cake that MH can also eat and while I am awesome at baking I can't decorate the cake and don't know anyone who could.
I secretly hope DH's deployment overseas gets cancelled. I found out there is a chance of this happening the other day. I am trying not to think about it and wait to see what happens, but it's been on my mind everyday. He should find out next week. I had planned to go home to Minnesota and cancelled because I wanted to spend as much time with him until he leaves. I will support him no matter what happens, but hope for it to be cancelled.

If you could make a dairy-free cake, then maybe you could order some cake decorations off of Etsy? There are lots of people on there that make cake decorations out of fondant and gumpaste, which I know can be made dairy free. Fondant and gumpaste and both be stored in tightly sealed containers in a cabinet for months. So if you can make the cake and order some decorations off of Etsy, you'd be good to go!

I think a lot of bakeries make dairy free cakes. I don't remember where you are in MD, but Sweet 27 is a vegan place so you can find dairy free cakes there https://sweet27.com/
These places might only do cupcakes BUT i bet if you asked nicely they could make you a cake I also really think most bakeries (expecially the fancy trendy ones) could do it.

By dairy free does that include eggs? Most kosher bakeries are dairy free, not eggs free.(pretty sure, just double check)
She can do egg but we have a hard time finding a bakery that can guarantee things won't be cross contaminated with things MH is allergic to and I don't think there is a Kosher bakery near us. I'll have to look.
Wes has been waking up at 5:30 am this week. It sucks. This morning, I went in and changed him (huge s hit diaper, same as the past few days, no doubt what is probably waking him up), nursed him, then put him back in his crib. He started crying, of course, but I went back in the bedroom and turned off the monitor for 15 minutes. I feel bad about it now, but I swear to god, it's like I'm Jekyll/Hyde when I first wake up in the morning - I'm a totally different person and do things I wouldn't be proud of
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

The pediatrician told us to avoid giving Darcy shellfish, peanuts, and tree nuts until she is 2 because I have a tree nut allergy (that I developed in my mid-20s) and those three are considered the highly allergenic foods. She has had shrimp twice and had crab meat quite a few times last week and I plan on giving her peanut butter by the time she is 1.

It might be a bit of a drive but check in Pikesville. I know there are a couple of kosher delis in the area since there is a large Jewish population.

That's true. I'm sure there are, I'll Google it, thanks for the suggestion!
Mine is lame, too. I took yesterday off of the bump so that I could be productive at work. The productivity lasted until about 11:30. Then I justified going to about 3,000 other sites because they weren't the bump.

I am curious why you would feel the need to feed her foods that are highly allergenic when it is not recommended and your pedi advised you not to? There are so many other nutritious things you could be offering her, why purposely feed her those?

This made me laugh! I totally understand! If I don't bump when I'm bored at work, I usually start shopping!
Continuing the lame trend. We put DS to bed last night in just a tshirt and diaper, knowing he likes to play with the velcro closures on it. Well--joke's on us because this morning I looked at the monitor and saw nothing but bare baby butt staring back at me. And of course he peed all over his bed.
Note to self: put jammies/shorts on the kid before bed!

I know what you mean. DD still wakes up a lot in the middle of the night and in the morning I realize all the things I should have done differently, but a sleepy brain just doesn't function properly! It helps that I have amnesia now. I wake up in the morning with little to no memory of what went down.
My confession is that I've been home all week on vacation and have done almost no cleaning. I have been watching lots of Breaking Bad on netflix, though.

I'm sorry, but I literally LOLed on this!! Barharhar!!! Bare butt! Did the coldness of his pee wake him up?
It makes me sad that Abby looks exactly like other kids with her genetic syndrome and doesn't look a thing like me or MH.
I am sorry. If it helps I think she just looks like a normal kid with cute adorable cheeks.
This and from the photos I've seen of you and Abby, I've always thought that she had your nose. She's a cutie.
I was just thinking that!
Thanks, girls. I guess it just upsets me, because the babies with this syndrome look more "normal", but when they start to be toddlers and a little older, they really start to look different. Don't get me wrong, I think she's the cutest every and I love her to death, it just makes me sad that our kid won't look like us.

DD has been a clingy teething mess lately. Since work was been very busy, we have just let her sleep in our bed between MH & I each night. I have been getting a better night sleep because of such but I know I am going to just have to re-sleep train her all over again. The other part of my FFFC is that I just love how she wakes me up in the middle of the night to cuddle. She will sit up and lightly pushing/hitting me to get me to wake up. As soon as I do, she cuddles right into my arms and falls back asleep. I know this is another bad habit I will have to break of of but I am just enjoying the extra cuddle time before she gets too big.

My FFFC-that sounds like heaven. Yes, you'll have to retrain, but you will remember this memory for the rest of your life. I kind of wish that C slept with us and did this.
Li has also been a clingy, teething mess. She will not nap in her crib, only on me. This entire week, she's been waking up at 4am and will not let us put her back in her crib. She physically will not let go of us, she wraps her legs around DH or me and grabs our shirts with so much strength we can let go of her and she doesn't fall, DH calls it the spider monkey. So, we have been bringing her down into our bed, and she only falls asleep nuzzled into me. I love it, but it has to stop.
I am trying desperately to have her fall in love with a doll so that we can put it in her crib and she can soothe herself with that instead of needing us.

This is exactly how I am looking at it. Soon, the day will come when she will not even want to be anywhere near me. I am just trying to enjoy the cuddling for as long as I can

I'm enrolling R in day care part time a few months earlier than I have to just so I can have 2 days a week where I don't have to deal with my ILs. They are nice people and truly love R, but they are driving me nuts! If he does well at day care, I may even consider switching to 3 days a week. By January, he'll have to go all 5 days anyway. (I guess that's a lame one too, huh? I'll try to think of a better one to liven things up a bit...)

LBB has been in his crib since his first day home. But last night he woke up around 12:30, which is unusual for him. When I went in to feed him I heard a bunch of drunk guys in an argument outside. It seemed pretty harmless, just drunks being drunks, but after Colorado last week I decided not to take any chances and I brought LBB into bed with us for the rest of the night.

We just got a new car and I am very happy that for the last couple months of my mat leave I have more flexibility, including the option to drop G off at childminding at the club I go to for a couple of hours so I can get life maintenance done during the week without him around.
I let Edison crawl on the grocery store floor and pretty much any floor that's around so he won't scream.
We were at the library last night, the place was empty so I let her crawl around on the carpet. She thought it was great. Then she saw the books and a little baby thought sprung into her head "something neat an organized. Don't worry folks I'll take care of this" Poor little baby Violet got put back into the stroller.

Yes! Edison gets a ton of baths.
He also LOVES to pull the books off of the bottom row of his bookshelf. A library would be like heaven to him.
