Speaking of nakedness (funny DD story)

So after reading all the posts about being naked and body parts, I have to share. DD's current obsession is the difference between girls and boys. She first noticed the difference after DS was born. One day while I was giving him a bath she asked me, "Mommy, what is that right there? Is that a gourd?" She had just helped my mom harvest some of her garden and they had picked all of her decorative gourds. I almost died trying not to laugh, and I calmly told her it was a penis and that boys have them. That has been almost a year ago, and she still sometimes calls them gourds. She speaks with a sort of accent/ speech impediment, which makes it even cuter...she says it more like "go- ud." So yesterday she was sitting talking to my dad and she said, "Grandpa, you're a boy. Do you have a gourd?" When he asked what she meant, she whispered to him, "Penis." Oh my, was my dad not comfortable with that conversation, but I couldn't help but laugh.

Ok, so does anyone else's LO call body parts anything funny? I'd never heard one called a gourd before DD!

  • Awww - too cute! "a gourd" is the funniest term I've ever heard... DD too young, but my Dad used to occasionally call a penis + testicles "the boys and the banjo" lol.

  • That is hillarious!

The first time DD saw a penis was when one of my friends was changing her 2 month old little boy's diaper. DD was talking to him and playing with his hands along with his older sister (she is the same age as DD and they spend a lot of time together). Out of nowhere DD says, "Mommy, what is that? It looks like an ice cream cone!". Before I could say anything her little friend said, "No silly, it is called a penis. That's what boys and daddies have!"

My friend and I were dying listening to the two of them discuss whether it was a penis or an ice cream cone!
