I think deliberate tanning is ridiculous, especially when people pay for what the sun provides for free.
Except you can't really get naked and allow the sun to tan you and tan lines suck. That being said, intentionally tanning is the same as smoking. You are begging for cancer. I have both smoked and tanned and have quit both. I am now the pastey girl who stays indoors of globs on sunscreen.

There is this AMAZING place known for brunch in Detroit that does bottomless Bloody Marys and mimosas and they have the BEST French toast stuffed with marscapone cheese. Their eggs benedict are to.die.for. OMG I want some now...
Who? What? Where???? I have never heard of bottomless bloody marys in the D!
La Dolce Vita. https://www.ldvrestaurant.net/ Brunch is on Sundays and I recommend calling for reservations in advance because otherwise, you'll be waiting for hours. Be sure to check back in and let me know how amazing it was! And be on the lookout for local "celebrities" because I see one every time I go- usually newscasters but I've seen the Mayor and the CEO of Henry Ford Health System too!
You owe me big for this one, lady!
Emerson Kate born 4/6/12, 5 lbs. 13 oz. 18 3/4 inches.
I *hate* Paula Deen. I could totally see that she's a raving beotch once the camera turns off.
Anthony Bourdain> Almost all food network chefs
Incorrect. The correct answer is, Alton Brown.
Alton Brown is pretty cool. I should elaborate:
Anthony Bourdain> Rachel Ray, Paula Deen, that Semi-Homemade chick, that guy that eats massive amounts of food and looks sickly (Man vs Food I think?), Bobby Flay.
Cool food network: Ina Garden, Alton Brown, Mario Batalli
I do like Anthony Bourdain. He would be my next favorite, after Alton Brown. I love No Reservations.

I never thought about the tan lines part, so I guess I can understand it if someone really wants to be tanned, but I just don't understand why someone does.
I'm with you; I'll be the unfashionable pasty one who keeps Coppertone in business.
And I agree with the rest of you: brunch is awesome, but Will Farrell is not.
My UO--my relationship with my husband is still my most important relationship. I love my baby unconditionally, but I will encourage him to sleep in his own bed and room (and also work on keeping bedtime fairly short) because I need that time with my DH ALONE. Even if we only stay awake for 15 minutes once the kid goes to bed--those are the best 15 minutes. My DH rocks and I want to make sure we keep our relationship working.
I disagree. Bed sharing and maintaining a healthy relationship with my spouse are not mutually exclusive whatsoever. Bedsharing was and will continue to be a mutual decision and we maintain balance between parenting and our adult relationship.
Breakfast is gross, brunch is crowded and over priced, and the phrase "breakfast for dinner" makes me squirm,
I'm sorry, I didn't express myself well. I'm sure you can bedshare and keep your relationship with DH. It isn't my style though and I see a lot of people who bedshare and use that as a reason not to stay intimately connected with their spouses. Also, people have babies and then say things like "We used to do ___ together, but now we have a baby and he/she is more important." Clearly, your life changes. But, I still want and need to have conversations about life/politics/religion, etc. with my husband and I can't do that very well with the kid in the room.
I feel pretty strongly that one of the best things I can do for my son is provide a happy family life and model a good husband/wife relationship. If that means he misses out on a few cuddles or cries for 5 minutes when he goes to bed, I'm cool with that.
And what is so wrong with breakfast for dinner? It is cheap to make and healthy if done right. A veggie-filled omelet, fruit, and pancake does a body good!
I *hate* Paula Deen. I could totally see that she's a raving beotch once the camera turns off.

LOL! The Man vs. Food guy does look sickly!
I give props to Alton Brown for his turkey brine recipe. Used it for my first Thanksgiving turkey last year. It was excellent and I normally hate turkey! (is that another UO?)

I think alot of us care too much/put too much stock into what our peditricians say/think.
ETA: Myself included, so I don't talk to him much.
Why would you see a pediatrician if you didn't value his opinion at least on medical matters?
My pedi basically told us it was okay to CIO at 5 days old. From a medical standpoint, it probably is, but I realize he isn't a child development specialist, so I took it with a grain of salt. I would absolutely value his profesional opinion on things like vaccines, though.Or reflux or the most reliable type of thermometer (I actually asked him about that, lol) or some other medical topic. It depends on what we are talking about.

i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
Wow, this must be the least controversial UO thread in the history of TB.
- Ketchup: yes, Ranch: meh, Mayonnaise: nasty
- Brunch: the best thing ever, Breakfast for dinner: yep, Dinner for breakfast: WTF??!
- Anchorman is one of the funniest movies ever. I like lamp.
- I think watching cooking shows is really weird. If you want to learn how to cook something, look up the recipe. How is it entertaining to watch someone else cook?
- Pediatricians: I always do my own research, but I also recognize that she does this for a living. I think if you can't take your pedi's advice seriously, you haven't found the right one. Not that I always take her advice, but I always give it significant weight.

I agree with first sentence above. MIL used to watch my oldest DD twice a week and it was a major strain on my marriage. I fought tooth and nail for a nanny this time because it was more important that DH and I not battle over his Mother's antics. It was a hard sell for my DH who felt that not leaving his daughters with a "stranger" was the most important thing. Ultimately we agreed but it can be hard to put yourselves first.
#1 eats breakfast for dinner on Friday nights and DH and I eat a real dinner after she goes to bed. It is our guaranteed date night even if we don't get out. So I guess breakfast for dinner serves it purpose but not on my plate :-)

I used to have 2 favorite movies: Pride & Prejudice and Dodgeball. 2 polar opposites.
I like cooking shows that actually give the recipe or things that I could actually do at home. Watching someone do something that I would never be able to do is not entertaining. And yet...I love HGTV.
I say I'm allergic to salad because I don't like it. I love ketchup and mayo (seperate).
I have no clue who Alton is. I get recipes from my family and rarely branch out because I'm picky and hate to try new things. Bad I know and I need to change this thought process because I don't want Andrew to be like that.
My UO: I don't get why people like to drink alcohol. It tastes horrible, can make you feel horrible. Granted I come from a line of many alcoholics so I tend to stay away from it anyway. I just turned 31, I've probably drank less than 20 times in 10 years...drunk 3 I think. Cant tell you the last time I even had a drink, it's probably been close to 2 years.

My unpopular opinion, which I'm sure will be flamed is...I get annoyed at people who are so detailed about their TTC journey. I mean this only to people in the very beginning of their journey. If you just decide to start a family, why are you concerned with tracking and testing ?DPO...when my husband and I started to try to have a baby, we stopped pulling out and waited to see what would happen, we were fortunate to get pg the first month, but I don't remember what day it was..we just did what felt right.
Now, that being said, I'm totally understanding of those of you that have had to try hared for your miracles! It's great that there are tools and tracks that are less invasive that can help people conceive and I hope it does not appear that brushing that aside. I'm simply referring to those of us who JUST started trying and got pregnant.
ETA: I thought of this because I have meandered over to the April 2013 board a couple times and it remnded me of what our board looked like in the beginning too.
UO: I don't think anyone who works as part of a team should be able to work an alternative work schedule. If you do solo casework, sure. But if we can't have a meeting because it's your off day and that means all work comes to a dead stop because of it, you shouldn't be allowed.

It did take me a while to get PG and I have PCOS so that's another issue, but all of those things aside I don't see what is wrong with giving it your absolute best shot. If you really want to get pregnant, why not do everything in your power to make it happen as quickly as possible?

I understand what you're trying to say here- my DH and I were the same, and were pregnant after the first month. But I think if it would have taken longer, I would have started tracking and doing all that stuff- it's just easier if you know what's going on with your cycle
I don't think Will Ferrell is all that funny... ::runs and hides::
Agreed!
I have this same opinion. I have watched 2 or 3 of his movies and don't think they are funny at all. He is just annoying.
::Comes out of hiding:: My friends IRL think I'm crazy because according to them, he's hysterical. I just don't like that kind of comedy, and glad DH doesn't either.
Re: UO
I can't stand Rachel Ray. Her little cutesy attitude and giggles are like nails on a chalkboard.
I don't mind Paula Dean so much, but I think her son's seems like pompous assses.
I can't stand him....he annoys the crap out of me. unfortunately my fiance thinks he is hilarious.
