Aw: had my ultrasound! But my due date might change...

We had our dating ultrasound finally! I will start off by saying that Ifeel so much better after seeing the baby kick so hard and hearing the strong heartbeat! I wondered if I would cry like I did with my son or if the second would be different and maybe less exciting...yea both my husband and I cried and got just as excited as we did with our son. I wondered if I would ever be able to love anyone as much as I love my son and my heart already is growing so I can. It is amazing

The baby looks super healthy and the heart beat was good and strong. I am only measuring around 11 weeks so they said we may need to adjust my due date but he scheduled me for another ultrasound in 4 weeks and he said we will compare measurements and we will know  more about the "real" due date then.He did not seem overly convened about changing my due date until e have ultrasound #2.

My next actual OB appointment is about 2 weeks away, the ultrasound was with a specialist, so I guess I will see what they say. Last time she said my uterus felt it was at least 12 weeks so going back to 11 weeks does not seem right. But as of now I think I will leave my ticker alone and stay here since he said we might just be measuring a tiny bit small. HAHA, my son's due date changed a lot and I would redo my ticker every time and I will wait until they seem more sure. What do you think? It is all a guess anyways...

  • Great news you had a great appt!  We have an ultrasound tomorrow morning, I can't wait to see how the baby has grown and changed.  Do you mind if I ask, when they change your due date, was it an estimate to begin with?  Or did you know for absolute certainty when you last period started?  I have it on my calendar, so I've been wondering if they will ever change mine, or if it might be different depending on how the baby's growing.

Most docs give you a due date based upon your LMP until you get a dating u/s and then they will usually go with whatever that says (because that is based up conception, which is usually 1-2 weeks after you period hence the few week difference in due dates)

I know the exact days of my last period.  It is on my calendar as well. But you could have ovulated "late" since no ones cycle is the same, there is no certain date you HAVE to ovulate. I guess the exception would be is you chart and know your "o" day. I knew my last period start date with my DS as well and the due date still changed a few times.

  • I never did have a dating ultrasound. The doc said its all a guess anyway and the date was not concerning as long as all was going well and we were progressing. But then, I have only had one ultrasound, so I think my doc is a bit more laid back (which is right up my alley.)

Every pregnancy is so different! Hope the doc gives you a better idea of what to go on.

  • Congrats on a great appointment! I would say keep your ticker the same for now & keep hanging out with us cool kids. Big Smile Haha
