I am struggling finding a time to exercise. I am totally exhausted in the morning and waking up early is not an option. I have started to consider working out after I get DS down for the night..... but I feel like I wont be able to sleep if I do that. Any suggestions?

Re: Working Moms.... When do you exercise?
Unfortunately I don't do too much structured exercise (ie haven't been to the gym in months). But I try to get out of the office at lunchtime (to shop, walk around), we try to be active on the weekends as far as doing things, and I take my dog for a walk every night after work.
I know I should be doing more, but I agree- I'm too tired to go to the gym after work, and before work just isn't happening.
I've been terrible since my BFP. I have worked out probably less than a hand full of times. Before though, I would normally go after work. DH doesn't get home most nights till 630 or 700 and I get off at 500 so it left me plenty of time to work out and still get home. I work for a college and we get free use of the gym on campus so it was easy to go there after work.
I hope that once baby comes my boss is going to be willing to adjust my schedule a few days per week to allow me time to work out after work and still get baby from daycare before the pick up time. I'm hoping to be allowed to either not take a lunch a few days per week or take a short lunch so that I can leave work at 400 or 430 and have time to work out and then get LO. My boss and work is pretty cool so I don't think it should be a problem.

Dear Baby Pacheco...
I do walk to/from the train each day --- so that's maybe 30-40 mins of walking. I've just been counting that as my exercise. I still have ZERO energy and I've been having terrible headaches this pregnancy. I can't imagine doing real exercise. I'm having trouble with the normal day-to-day stuff as it is.
I am IMPRESSED! I go to the gym after work 3-4 days per week and do strength training. Other than that, it's just walking the dogs a mile or two in the morning. I need to do more but at least getting to the gym a few days makes me feel better.
After the baby comes, I'll have to go straight home after work so I'll probably go to the gym during my pitiful 30 minute lunch.
During the school year (I'm a teacher) I go one day a week to the gym before picking DD up from day care and sometimes go to the gym once on the weekend. But I do walk a lot (don't own a car, so we're always walking around the city to/from the subway, etc.). I wish I worked out more though.... before DD I was a 3-5 times to the gym kind of girl.
Now that I'm on summer vacation I'm working out a lot more, but I'm sure that will all change once I go back to work in September.
I always exercise in the morning before I get ready for work. We are allowed 1-2 cups of coffee per day (sometimes I don't have any) but I always have my 1 cup before I exercise. It gives me the extra boost/motivation I need to get moving. That is usually my only cup for the day, sometimes when I'm extra in the afternoon I will have a cup of half-caf or another regular cup, but on most days I limit the coffee to one cup before I exercise.
I have also been taking my dog on extra long walks, after he does he's business we'll keep going (if its still light outside).
I also keep a pair of sneakers in my office, if I'm tired after lunch i'll take a walk around the block to wake myself up (instead of coffee).
I hope this is helpful! Good Luck finding the time (it's hard)
I'm a three day event rider--until we found out I was pregnant, I rode four days a week, walked and lifted weights.
After finding out about the baby, I limited my riding to dressage (no jumping) and now stopped at the 14 week mark. I know my horse, but didn't want to take any chances.
First trimester kicked my butt in a big way. I was so sick and throwing up all the time, that the idea of doing anything that required any effort made me feel, well, like throwing up.
Now that I'm back on my feet for the last three weeks or so, I'm trying to walk every night with my husband. I am also going to try a prenatal yoga class next week.
But honestly, most of the time I'm so pooped!
