1st Trimester

Do you have a name picked yet?

We have some boy names and I'm sure we could pick if we just thought about it for a little bit.  Girl names- not even close.  With DS we had his name picked before we were pregnant.  We're team green this time around, so we need a name for both and even though I'm barely pregnant, I'm totally obsessed with figuring them out.

How about you- where are you at with the naming process?

Re: Do you have a name picked yet?

  • My H and I have very different name styles. Very different. He doesn't even want to talk about it until the a/s.

Personally, I haven't found a single boy name that has jumped out at me (which I said no to Max originally so I don't count anything out), but I have decided that I really like the name Maci if it is a girl. I am doing my best to warm DH up to it.

Other girl names that I like are Vivienne, Evelyn, Lena, and Molly.

Also I am pretty much 100% sure this one is another boy. I don't know why, but I am pretty certain it is.

I am pretty sure I'll have a boy again, too.  I've always pictured myself with only boys, so we shall see.

I have a few girl names that I like but either DH doesn't like them or he's ok on them but close family gives them major No (they realize they don't reeeeally get a vote, but at the same time, I'd like them to like the names we pick).

Before we knew DS was a boy we has Grace picked out in case it was a girl, and we're sticking with that. (I have a feeling LO is a girl -- wishful thinking?) If it's a boy, I'm pretty sure we're going with James.

  • We have both a girl and boy name figured out . . . but this past weekend my MIL gave me a baby name book.  So I guess she doesn't like our names!  Back to the drawing board . . .

  • We have a couple names we like but we're not discussing it right now. I'd prefer not to choose a name until after the birth anyway.

I think those would both be great sibling sets with your current child's name.

  • We've talked about a boy name already, and we'll likely go with that if the baby is a boy, and I've got a girl name that feels right to me, but I haven't told DH about it yet.

I find that we can't come up with as big of a list with boys as we can with girls but when it comes down to actually picking a "short list" for each gender, boys are way easier for us.

My current issue with boy names is that we like Ethan but when I have been talking about the names together (Mason and Ethan), I find myself getting a bit tongue-tied on them and calling Mason and his hypothetical bro "Mathon and Esan"......so something my mother would do.

    I agree !
I have a long list of the girl names that I like, and only a couple names on my list of boys names.
We didn't pic DS's name (Phoenix) until well after we saw he was a boy at the U/S.
I liked having a name before he was born, personally because it gave me a bit more of a connection...if that makes sense ?
DH wants to be team green this time around, but since we've started playing with names, he's leaning more towards finding out the sex again so we can have time to agree on a name. :P hehe

    .

My hubby is doing the same thing! Doesn't even want to discuss names until we know what it is. BUT, I think we are in agreement on Atlantis for a girl. :) I'm secretly hoping for another girl... hehe. :) Both my brothers have 2 girls each and the hubby's sis has 1 girl so we have girls all around! As for a boy, hubby and I can not agree on any names. In fact, he won't even shoot me out one he likes right now! Its rather frustrating... lol

  • we were team green last time and could NOT agree on a girl name.  DD#1 went unnamed for 3 days after being born.  this time around, H cares very little (probably bc he doesn't want to discuss it noon and night like last time).

we'll find out this time, but if it's a boy we'll probably go with our boy pick from last time - Charlie.  If it's a girl, I'm leaning towards Cora.

    DD#1 is Emmy.

    What are your picks?

  • We have our boy's name picked out since we obviously didn't need to use it last time. I think we're narrowing down our list of girls' names (i.e. DH is finally coming around to the name I am in love with).
  • We are team green so need a name for each gender.  Emily Ann was our girl name the first time around and is still the girl name.  It took forever to decide on Jack Wyatt for DS so I'm sure it will take forever to decide this time around on a boy name.  I'm hoping to use August as a middle name since it is H's grandpa's middle name.

  • Dh and I have had the names picked for a very long time. We never had a problem deciding what we didn't like, but picking the ones we did like was pretty difficult. Emily Elizabeth for a girl and Bradley Benjamin for a boy. We also recently learned that twins are quite common in the family (never seen many of my family members except my immediate family) so we are thinking of second names just incase. We have Sophia Sky if there are 2 girls, but DH is in charge of the second boy name.

  • We lean more towards the uncommon names. Probably because my name is very uncommon. Ventura. DD name is Maeve Avi. We had it picked out pretty early. This time around we have gone around and around, but right now we are stuck if it is a boy Atticus Joseph, if it is a girl Penelope Xaviere. So a little bit of common with a less common name.

  • We have our boy name, same one we had picked out from our first pregnancy. We have a couple girl names we like, but haven't decided anything.

My #1 is Camille (mn will be Julianne/Julianna depending on which sounds better with the name we pick) but I also like Maren- actually I love Maren but it's sooooo close to DS's name.  I liked Naomi but decided it's "stripper name" which, imo, is totally waaay off, but whatever....apparently that ones off the list lol

ETA:  Dh likes Hadley which was my #1 girl name forever...long before we even tried for DS....but I've liked it for so long that now it feels a little blah to me.

  • I'm constantly thinking about this.  DH has his favourite names - John David and Charlotte Jane.  Since he keeps shooting down my names - Joseph John, Jocelyn Jean - I'm trying to come up with new names that he'll approve of.

We are finding out the sex, so eventually this battle will become a little easier.  I just hope I can come up with something and not have to name a son of mine John David.

Yes- I am loving Lisee at this age.  We just got back from the beach and she enjoyed it so much.  Last year she couldn't have cared less, but this year she was doing the funniest little things and talking up a storm.

I can't believe we have the same due date!  haha.  When did you find out you were pregnant?  How long have y'all been trying?  We just found out yesterday and we had been trying since right before Annalise was one.

  • No names here yet- but I am thinking about it constantly.  For a girl, both my husband and I like Aria and Cora and I think the middle name will be Joy.  I think this baby is a boy though, and I'm stuck.  We love the names Jackson, Griffin (nn Finn), Merrick, and Colin.  For a middle name I'd prefer to use Michael or James because those are big family names, but I don't think we can use Michael as a middle name for Jackson!  I am not sure I like the double J with Jackson James either....I still have so much time left but I am thinking about this a lot these days!

  • DH wants nothing to do with names right now. He keeps saying that this pregnancy hasn't sunk in for him yet, which I can understand. But I begged him to talk about names the other day and I think we *might* have a girl name. Boy names are so much harder for me, so I'm just now tackling that challenge :/

Boys, there are some we like but haven't picked any definites. I like Zachary, Deacon, Eben, Caden and probably middle name Joseph since that is both our Grandfather's middle name.

  • We're new to the PG game, but coming up with names already seems daunting. When I was a teenager and in college I loved the name Lily for a girl, but my cousin named her DD that almost 4 years ago now.

We honeymooned in the Riviera Maya, Mexico and had a half Mayan tour guide who told us the meaning of the name Maya, and we fell in love with it. After we came home I was convinced if we had a girl we'd name her Maya with my mother's middle name, and then some high school sweetheart classmates of mine named their DD that exact same name. Sad DH says we shouldn't care but in the age of facebook I'd still feel weird knowing the names we liked were already taken by people I know.

I have been working on a list for each.

Boys - Mason, Declan, Maxwell, Dexter, Emmett, Kellan, Graham, Rhys & Finn are my favorites (right now).

Girls - Harper, Lauren, Michaela, Emma, Katherine, Emily, Grace, Bridget, Eva and Julia are my girls list (for now).

It's sort of all over the place.  I'm sure I'll add some and take some off and change my mind a hundred times.

Obviously I love the name Mason (even if it is popular right now).  If my good friend hadn't named her DD Lauren, that would probably be one of my top picks.  Actually all your name picks are great!
