When did you schedule your induction?

I see a lot of moms talking about their c-sections and inductions are scheduled.  I asked my doc on Thursday when does she think I will have the baby because my job wanted to know about maternity leave. She said " oh well 38 weeks if you haven't gone had them already"  then she ran off.  I am assuming since she is a MFM and probably only delivers if there are complications with the delivery.  So should I ask my OB?  I feel like since they are so busy they are just pushing me along.. that I am constantly being left off track.  Maybe they are waiting to see if I make to a certain point before taking my pregnancy as being real? or loose it or what.  It is all very confusing and very different when I had DD.

Re: When did you schedule your induction?

  • At my 16 week appointment my OB scheduled it for 38 weeks exactly.  It is nice to know the end date and I hope I make it that far.

  • I knew both my drs wanted it scheduled for 37 weeks but I just got my exact date a week ago. The next day I saw my MFM and she said I'll most likely have to deliver around 34 weeks and don't get my heart set on the date I was given.

  • My OB scheduled mine for 37 weeks exactly last week, but she made it clear that she thinks the odds of reaching that date are 100-1.

This is my siggy. Love it.

  • My OB said he would be comfortable with an induction after I hit 37 weeks. My goal is 37 weeks so we will see.. If I go longer, I'm good with that too.

  • We didn't even discuss induction until last week - I've got a backstop date of August 3 when I'll be a little over 39 weeks.

  • I obviously haven't given birth yet, but here are what my docs said...

MFM suggested 38 weeks c-section (would have suggested 37 weeks if identical).   OB is basing the scheduling on what the MFM suggested.  It has already been scheduled because my OB is VERY popular (5 month wait to get on her schedule for an annual GYN check up) so she would rather have things scheduled as early as possible.

  • I was scheduled sometime after my 20 week appt but the nurse scheduled it a week earlier than my doctor prefers and she keeps insisting it will be a week earlier but hasn't said how she plans to accomplish that.  We shall see.

  • My Ob didn 't start talking about it with me until 32 weeks or so. It wasn't until our last appointment after MFM made the recommendation of out by 38 weeks that we started to talk about it. The office is going to call me to set it up for 38 weeks. So I definitely wouldn't worry!

  • We scheduled it at either my 35w or 36w appt (I forget which but right around there). I was the one who asked to go ahead and get it scheduled; at that point I just wanted a definite end point in sight!
