  I use the aden and anais sleep sacks.  they are much safer in the crib

  My son likes to snuggle with the a+a swaddle blankets in a security blanket way. During the day, for naps, I let him do that when I can watch him. At night, though, he uses a sleep sack and everything comes out of the crib. I'm sure he'd be fine but it just isn't worth it to find out I was wrong.

  I let DD keep the Issie blanket all night long. I was swaddling her in the A+A swaddles, and as she grew/got more active, she'd start unwrapping herself and smashing the blanket into her face for comfort. Then one day I came in and she had the blanket wrapped around her head - no more full sized swaddling blankets for her! The issie is perfect, it's only one layer so it's super breathable, it's only the size of a dinner plate so even if she does cover her face, there are open airways on the sides at all times. The blanket is in a new place whenever I go back into her room so I know she's using it for comforting after I leave - as soon as I put her in the crib, she reaches for it and rubs it all over her face and tucks it under her cheek as she rolls onto her side. I gave it to her at around 5 months old, only after I felt confident that she was totally capable of moving the blanket or her head if she needed to.
