Is anyone getting one related to your LO?
I already have 1 tattoo (tramp stamp) that I got in college and that is completely meaningless...just a design I chose from the wall.
I decided that if I ever got another one, it would have meaning behind it, and I can think of nothing more meaningful than my son. So I've been thinking about getting one to represent him, just not sure what...we share the same birth month, so I was thinking of maybe a violet (February's birthflower), and trying to incorporate his name in it to personalize it. I don't want anything big though...
Re: Speaking of baby tattoos...
So weird! I was just sitting outside thinking about this. I was going to write a post asking as well!
I would like to get one for my son, but I don't want to do something generic like footprints or just his name.. Even though I do love his name and if it was done right it could be cool.
I was actually thinking about just getting the letter E somewhere, with a fancy font. Our last name starts with the letter E too, so it works for that as well. I kind of want it on my ankle.
I have four tattoos, some are pretty big, a little E on my ankle would probably never be noticed! haha
That's an awesome idea! I have tattoos already and would like one for my hubs and my son, I'm thinking Led Zeppelin lyrics from "Thank you"--"If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me" But it is a lot of writing so I don't know where to put it!
I kinda want to do something vague so that I can reference it as a tattoo for all of my children because I don't know what I would do if I ended up having 3-4 kids and a different tattoo for each, KWIM? But with flowers you could just keep adding to them for each birth month which would be so pretty! Where will you put it?
This is on my back. The big butterfly on the bottom represents me. Then it's my mom, dad, two brothers, sister, and my husband. As cheesy as it is, they've "got my back." I'm adding my son as a dragonfly. Any future daughters will be ladybugs.
And yes that is also why I thought just the letter E was a good idea! I really love names that start with E, so my next kids will probably have a name that starts with that letter... I dont know, maybe that's kind of lame.
I would do the flower thing too but I already have too many flowers tattooed on me. Hmm...
I have a ladybug on my foot for my mom (she passed 2 years ago) and I am getting another one to represent my fiance and our son.
How many tattoos do you have? I think the letter E idea is really cute
This is really sweet, and I don't think it is cheesy I think it is awesome!
All of my tattoos are on my ribs, and they hurt like crazy. But I don't have tattoos anywhere else yet to compare the pain with. I think it is more painful because the bone is right there. However, unless you are getting a large piece it wasn't unbearable pain.
I have a small one on my hip and a larger one that starts on my lower back and wraps up to my ribs on one side. The ribs killed! I thought my back would hurt, but I definitely agree the ribs were what I thought was the worst. I keep thinking of getting another tattoo, but I think I'm probably done with my tattoos.
That is too funny you were thinking about this too!
I LOVE the letter E idea! I love how E looks in cursive (my last name starts with an E as well) and love how it's such a simple yet meaningful statement. I might even steal the idea except with a G if I didn't decide to do a violet!
I am not sure where I'd put it...I never thought I'd want one that couldn't be covered with clothing, but putting one on my ankle or foot is kind of appealing...
You and I are tramp stamp twinsies! I got mine with a fake ID and got it done in black and white because it was cheaper. Then the big tribal phase happened. It doesn't matter that I had my tattoo long before tribal got popular, I still look like a d-bag. Thankfully I didn't have much money and it's pretty small.
Im dying to have mine removed, not add more!
I got this in May.
Actually, the letter G looks awesome too! I got the idea from my friend, and she had the letter G tattooed on her, (her husbands last name) and it looks great! She has like 15 tattoos, so you don't notice it as much but it's really cute. Its on her lower ankle/ foot. I want mine behind the ankle bone.
You could put it behind your ear if it's small enough? The one I have behind my ear is a little bigger and low, so it's pretty much a neck tattoo, haha, but most people still don't notice it if my hair is down, or they think it's an earring. But if you put it small enough and more behind your ear it will stay pretty hidden.
I have 4 tattoos. This is on my left wrist, I got it when DD1 was about 10 months old. I will get one for DD2 eventually, not sure yet what I will get though.
I have a large rib tattoo, I didn't think it hurt any worse than my other ones (wrist, stomach, and tramp stamp). My belly one is the only one my pregnancies ruined. However, no one will ever see most of my tattoos anyway since they are hidden by regular clothes and I will never wear a bikini again due to my hideous stretch marks...
I like the idea of putting it behind the ear too! What I like about the ankle/foot is that I'd be able to see if without a mirror, which is the only way I can see my current tattoo, and it would be nice to be able to see it myself... I will definitely have to think about this! :-)
I was just thinking about this last night. I've always wanted this as a tattoo:
I think I can use the leafs to my advantage. Put two bigger leafs as DF and I. A small one fore McKenzie. Then add smaller ones as we have more children.
Woops, I fell asleep way too early last night! They didn't get stretched or anything during my pregnancy, and I got huge! I have three stars on my left rip cage and a sparrow on my right, and they all could use some fresh ink but no stretching from pregnancy. I think that as long as they aren't wrap around tattoos onto your belly you should be good.
I know someone that has a vine tattoo and she incorporated her LO's initials into the vines, which you could totally do with this tattoo as well.
Btw, the stars that I have on my hip...moved since pregnancy. They used to be located on the inside of my hip bone but now it's on top of my hip. It didn't stretch or get ruined in any way. I just think because my hips moved it was displaced.
