hi! I'm a FTM and am trying to get my nursery as organized as possible before baby arrives. I'm hoping that you all could recommend your favorite closet organization system and explain its strengths. Ideally, I'd like to be able to purchase something that I can put into the closet in the way of extra bars, shelves, etc., but I don't know which systems might be good and really what kind of storage I'll need.
Thanks!
Re: Closet Organization
Unfortunately I think you'll fid that as baby grows, your organization will likely change. I would look for something that is easily reconfigurable.
We didn't have a closet in DD's room so we used a shelving system will pull out bins for all of her clothes. We got it at ikea and I think it was called trofast. I labeled each bin with the contents. I plan on using it for toy storage after we move and she has a closet.
It might be easier to fold the clothes and put them on shelves or in drawers because then you can keep outfits together.
We have a Container Store and got their Elfa system, which is a really easy self installation. A little bit nicer than the Rubbermaid self installation stuff at Home Depot and Lowe's, but in the same general price range. I would recommend any of the three. You install one bar at the top of the closet and then can mix and match shelves, drawers, hanging rods, etc. EASY to do, not terribly expensive. Totally changeable later on when your needs change.
In our nursery, we went from one shelf and one hanging bar to 2 half hanging bars, 1 full shelf, 6 half shelves, and 4 drawers. I can't remember the price on that closet because we did several others at the same time, but it wasn't terribly expensive.
