Are there any popular baby names that are not your style?
NMS
Isabella
Aiden
Mason
Plus, I dont like the trend of using "old ladies" names (or however they call it over on the Baby Names board= for little girls. I dont think it is cute.
I don't have specific names but I dislike the trend of changing the spelling of names to make it you-neek ... It's Michaela not McKayla, it's Aiden not Ayden.
ETA - perfect example someone just posted on BN ... Peighton instead of Peyton.
I don't have specific names but I dislike the trend of changing the spelling of names to make it you-neek ... It's Michaela not McKayla, it's Aiden not Ayden. Now that I think of it, it pretty much means adding the letter y to names.
But my child is so special!!!! He/she has to unique and that starts with the name!!!! If my child is named Michael he will be traumatized, Mykull will make him so much more special!!!

I have only ever seen McKayla, never seen Michaela. And only on people who are teens now. Michaela looks weird to me.
for girls: Mackenzie , Kiley, Riley, Finely, Henley, - really just about any name that ends in Y or with that sound. . . I have no idea why these are all of a sudden so popular, but they make me think of the bratty girls with attitudes I have to deal with at my middle school. They all have "Y" names. If you want a future middle school dress code violoator, to the Y name route.
for boys: Jayden, Braden, (I am with you all on the "aiden" trend), Trent, Kurt
for either: Hunter ( I hate this name so very, very much)
*any name that is spelled in a ridiculous way that makes no sense - I see so many of these I could write a book. If you are choosing a name that has been in existence for centuries, why try to make it "cute/unique" by changing the spelling??? It just makes you look like you were really tired after labor and delivery and got sloppy with the spelling b/c of the drugs or exhaustion or both. Or you are just uneducated. . . rant over.

Here's what annoys me the most about that. You are giving your kid a name that he/she will be stuck with FOREVER. And no one else will be able to spell it right. I don't have an uncommon name at all, but it's one of those that could end in "y" or "ie" or "i" - and all are fairly common and accepted . . . BUT no one ever remembers which one I am. It's not a big deal, but it's kind of annoying when people I've been working with for years still address me in a name ending in "y."

There is one in Carters daycare. She is adorable.... I just dont get it.
It is so funny you ladies mention Nevaeh! I used to love that name so much when I first heard it! Thank goodness I didn't have a child like five years ago. I cannot stand that name now! I think it is so ugly. Also, my mother said it would remind her of the devil like it is anti-heaven. My DH said it reminds him of a stripper name.
I also am not a fan of names that sound bratty, Kayla, Jayden, etc. I do like different names, not common ones but I think there is a limit. The ones I like are normal, just not as popular.

It is the female form of Michael so spelling it Michaela just looks right to me. My cousin spells it this way but she is in her 20s. I feel like all of the different variations are newer spellings of it. If I ever see the name now it is definitely spelled a different way!

(sorry if anyone has named their kid Nevaeh or plans to.... really NMS, but to each her own!)
I also dislike the weird spellings of normal names, why is it necessary?
AND why would you name your kid Krave? (I have seen this... the mom said the kid was named after a cologne, which makes it worse....)

I don't like nicknames as full names- Liam, Jack. I don't care for Occupation names- Sawyer, Hunter. I love the name Grace, but don't like how it's become this generations go to MN.
there are a lot! lol. What comes to mind right now... Declan. Just harsh sound to me. The -Aiden trend. The McKenna, McKenzie, McKayla, etc etc and all the various spellings thereof. Using boy names on girls.
And there are a million and one names out there that are just NMS.
I also strongly dislike little girls with boy names [Maxwell]
I don't mind some boy names, but I did not get Maxwell at all. I don't think the "Maxi" nickname makes it any better... there's no way she's going to make it through childhood without being called Maxi-Pad.

Also, I am not a fan of boy names becoming girl names.
I love boys names for girls.....(not like Ben or Jack, but Carter or Casey. DH hates it too, so it'll never happen in our household).
I'm not fond of weird spellings like PP's have said.
Carter for a girl!?!
I can't imagine naming a little baby girl Carter. Talk about a lifetime full of people being surprised when she turns out to be female! Casey I can understand, but not Carter.
My absolute least favorite name ever is Abcde! I've met 3 of them! What's wrong with parents?!
I can't stand weather names. By that I mean Sunny, Sunshine, Rainy, Stormy....seriously someone I know named their baby Stormy. It makes me think of hippies.
