I am 6 weeks today and my dr sent me for a blooddraw yesterday and tomorrow to check my HCG levels, she also scheduled me for an ultrasound again in 2 weeks. I'm being paranoid to think something is wrong right? I'm assuming this is just normal standard procedure?
Re: Having HCG levels checked is normal right?
I didn't have them done for my first, but I'm thinking it was because by the time my first appointment rolled around, I was 9 weeks and they were able to see/hear everything on the u/s.
This time, yes, I did have hcg levels drawn. Maybe practices have changed? I don't know. But yes, it's normal from what I'm gathering.
yep its normal, your fine
my dr just called I had my first HCG done yesterday. Im scheduled for thursday, saturday and then u/s.
It depends on the practice. My practice does not check hcg unless you have a loss history. Some practices due this as part of the routine testing they do.
Did they do any sort of ultrasound in office? If they didn't I would assume it's part of their routine to test hcg and do an ultrasound two weeks after since they would have no way to believe things weren't progressing well.
It isn't just normal, it's necessary--- If your doctor orders an hGC test, then it's almost always done twice because what's important is the doubling time, not the actual value. Some doctors may forgo this altogether but if you're going in for a beta, you're going to go in twice to actually give the docs the information they need.
I think a common symptom of pregnancy that no one talks about is paranoia. I've had five "I'm-sure-I-miscarried" attacks and I'm only six weeks along (I've only known for two weeks! lol) I have read into every single word my doc has said and panicked.
I am getting my 2nd blooddraw today. I tried to get my results from my first draw yesterday but to no avail.
I think there is a certain level of paranoia that goes along with being pregnant, It's crazy!!! I just hope that I get the results back tomorrow and that my HCG is rising.
