Are Sketchers "cool" shoes?

I feel so old right now, and I realize that this is not really even an important issue.  But, are Sketchers tennis shoes still acceptable amongst school aged kids?

    It is "cool" here in the Chicago burbs.
    DD~6 years old~born June 6, 2008 (1st grade)
    DS~4 years old~born November 6, 2010 (1st year of preschool)

    I see kids in my son's elementary school wearing them.  Kids in the h.s. where I teach and my DD's middle school wear converse low tops these days.
    High School English teacher and mom of 2 kids:

    DD, born 9/06/00 -- 12th grade
    DS, born 8/25/04 -- 7th grade

    The twinkle toes are very popular among pre-schoolers/kindergarteners.
