Read that the other day. A friend posted it on FB because it was posted on her baby month board. People over there were taking it seriously...and offended that he would stereotype someone being a slut based on her name, etc....some people need to lighten up.

I thought it was hysterical.
really? Those are probably the same people that judge someone for formula feeding/breast feeding/circumcisions/cosleeping/noncosleeping...you get my point.
I also thought it was really funny and often think "stripper name" when people tell me their little girl names.

I don't recall if I relayed this story on here or elsewhere...but apparently I have a hooker name. Watching one of the many police reality shows on Tru TV with DH and they were doing a prostitution sting. One of the female undercovers said, "Well, Mom gave me a hooker name (Brandy) so may as well make some use out of it."
Of course, my opinion is that it only becomes a hooker name if you refuse the to spell it the way it is supposed to be spelled (the way it says on the bottle) and instead spell it with an 'i' or 'ie' at the end.

Actually...true story - around the time I got pregnant, I was taking pole dance classes. Not that there is or should be any correlation between the two - me pole dancing just was not sexy. At all. I think there was an episode of King of Queens that tells this same story.

Ryker is on his list of worst boys name but it is a strong German name and nothing new at all. The name has been around for centuries and it certainly shouldn't be compared to the other stupid names on his list. My mother's family is German decent and there are 10 Ryker's of various ages.
I suppose I could understand his point, if it wasn't for the long standing history behind this particular name, what with Riker's Islan prison and the ever famous Star Trek character.
I actually read the article in parents magazine the other day and couldn't believe some of the names that were in there. I don't think he mentioned the worst!
Umm this one made me spit out my coffee,
"I'll name him Raw'Bert." Especially because DH's name is Robert. Anyhoo I'm a Brandi too and I wouldn't look good dancing near a pole.
Re: American Baby Names are Somehow Getting Worse (article)
I just snorted when i read Blayde and his brother Nyfe! People are getting out of control...
funny article- I love the comment, "Please note that if you name your baby Draven, you must dress him up like the Crow at all times."

Now I'm ticked.

I assure you my child was not named after either!
And here I was going to name C Tulsa. It's the ultimate vacay spot
This man is hilarious! I think I need to read his stuff regularly.
