Baby Names

Is he really going to hate his name?

We kinda of like the name Graham for a middle name for our son. But I see some that say 'it's a cracker'. Is it really that bad of a name? Is he going to get picked on because of it? We like it because well we think it sounds 'smart'. Second, we are in the south and we respect Billy Graham (the preacher) and we got Graham from that also. But is it that bad of a name? Do you know anyone named that at all- old or young?

I prefer Graeme because Graham is too crackery for me, but I don't necessarily think it's a bad name. If it's a middle name, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  • If it's a middle name - I wouldn't worry about it.  All of the people I know named Graham have always been great guys and I never heard any cracker cracks about them!

    I love Graham (either spelling).

In the mn spot, I seriously doubt he'll hear much graham cracker talk at all. But I'd use it for a first name, so clearly I don't care either way. Wink

  • I have a Graham and have gotten tons of compliments on it already. I say go with it, and if you're using it as a MN most people won't know his MN anyway.

  • The Graham I knew was a great guy. He has graduted college now. I dont know if he ever was teased, but if he was he still turned out great.

As a mn, he probably wont be teased for it anyway. Very few people ever knew my mn.

I prefer the spelling Graeme. I don't think it will be a big deal in the middle name slot. If you like it use it.

  • I have known many Grahams throughout life, and none were compared to the cracker.  I've noticed people here can be a bit tough when it comes to names, so really it is what you feel comfortable with naming your little one.

  • I love the name Graham!  I prefer the Graeme spelling and am actually surprised at the number of people on here that also prefer Graeme since it is definitely less popular than Graham.
  • I know a few kids named Graham, and it's also the name of one of the chef/judges on Master Chef (Graham Elliot). These are all positive associations for me and I like the name.

Also, especially if you're using it as a middle name he won't get teased about it, other kids won't know it. (Not that I think he'd be teased about it anyway)

  • My friend's older brother is named Graham. No one ever made the cracker association to him that I know of, then again I met him when we were in middle/ high school so we were out of the elementary fun making stage. I never really thought about the cracker thing honestly... I think it's a nice name.

  • I've met a few people Graham... personally, I like it. And don't worry about the cracker... no matter what name you pick there is always a possibility someone will find a way to make fun of it. So be daring! Name him Graham and when he's still teeny tiny you can call him your little cracker and then nobody can use it to make fun of him since you thought of it first.
