So I've been having severe itching on my hands and feet for 8 days. Went to the doctor today and they are testing me for cholestasis but think it is just PUPPS. They wrote me two prescriptions to help with the itching (Thank God). After reading online though it doesn't seem like it's PUPPS because it is not on my belly only hands and feet. But it has also started getting red and clear bumps on my hands, feet, and wrists since it started last week. I'm only worried because the cholestasis is more serious and can cause complications and it just doesn't sound or even look like a PUPPS rash to me. Anyone have experience with these? Does cholestasis ever have the clear tiny bumps as part of it or is there never a rash or bumps?
Re: PUPPS vs. Cholestasis
I had PUPPS (and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy) and while it started on my belly, it eventually went everywhere. Hands, feet, legs, torso (but never breasts). After awhile it looked like blisters. Clear at first, then reddish after they broke.
But from what I was told and experienced, it starts in the stretch marks on your belly and goes from there.
My BFF had choleostatis and from what I understand, choleostatsis is itching everywhere and the itching generates from an internal source (liver/bile processing issues), not blisters or a rash.
