I ended up here after googling cheap wedding recpetion ideas, and came accross the Knot. I used their wedding planning tools but never knew about the message boards.
Later, when I was just a few weeks KU, I remembered the Knot had a Bump site for pregnancy, so I signed up for that weekly email and posted on my local board for a wile. It was really slow, and someone suggested I check my birth month. I have been here ever since!
Re: GTKY--How did you end up on TB?
I posted on TheNests Getting Pregnant board while TTC. I went to TheBump when I found out about my IF diagnosis and needed help/suggestions/answers.
When I got pregnant I posted on PAIF, multiples, and a little bit here.

I signed up on The Knot shortly after becoming engaged. We had a very small wedding so I only used TK for some ideas.
I didn't know about TB until I miscarried my second pregnancy and went online in search of support for loss. Once I was pregnant again, and felt "safe" enough to read more about my pregnancy I'd read TB daily but was mostly a lurker until recently. So glad I'm here!
Great post kwinkle!
I too used the knot while planning our wedding, but never knew about the message boards other than people posting their honeymoon stories which I loved looking at!
I never knew about the Bump until I got my bfp and was goggling "how big is baby" and found this website...it than took me a while to figure out their was message boards.

What are blue balls/nesticles?
And maybe you know this too: what are those 8 little rectangles under the avatar that are sometimes green?
blue balls/nesticles were the nicknames for those little rectangles back when they were balls. i want to say this was back in 2007ish, but some others who have been around for eons may have a better memory than i do.
I too, started on TK. I lurked on TN for a looong time, then before TTC, lurked on TB. I was kind of obsessed, ok, I still am. It's just such a great way to find out what's "normal" and know that other ladies experience a lot of the same things.

We got engaged on 7/13/07, so I signed up with the Knot then too! When we decided when we would start trying, I participated in the TTGP board for awhile. Then I moved over the birth month while pregnant, but then stopped posting till just a few days ago!
yes, the rectangles replaced the blue balls/nesticles back around 2007/2008 I believe. it was a way of ranking the most active posters but had to do with where you were on the list, not how many posts you actually had. So if you were in like the top 10, all your nesticles were filled in, and so on.

I had a Knot account years ago when wedding planning but competely forgot about it. I think I was googling something like "due date calculator" because I signed up pretty much as soon as I got my BFP with DD.
And I have never noticed those blue boxes before today!!!
I used the knot a bit when we were getting married, and then my sister told me about the bump when I was first pregnant. I loved hearing that all you ladies were going through the same things as me...same symptoms, questions, fears, etc... It was so reassuring.

Same story here!
This exactly. Except I still didn't join in on the forums much until after DD was born.
I knew about the Knot/Nest/Bump, and while I had used all 3 sites for information, I had never joined the forums. The day I got my BFP, I spent almost the entire day on the Bump and I started lurking here.
I didn't join until later, and my first post was after our A/S. Part of the catalyst for me to start posting was that we were going to be having professional development based around using forums/message boards in the classroom and our summer assignment was to join two online communities...one personal and one professional.
I didn't really start posting though until after LO was born.
I signed up for The Knot not long after getting engaged. I remember in 2005 when my friends were making their wedding pages and I couldn't wait to make my own!
I found the bump on accident. I remembered getting emails from The Nest after I got married and thought nest = home = family, but realized The Bump was specifically for babies. I started checking it out the day after I took a pregnancy test and it came back positive. I found the message boards not long after but it took me almost a year to start participating.
