FFFC

My FFFC is I use a blanket on DS during naptime.  He wears footie pajamas at night that keep him warm, but during the day he hangs out in a onesie with his legs exposed.  I feel bad for him and tuck a blanket around his legs.  I figure he's coordinated enough to take it off if it gets over his face, plus I'm a nervous mama and check on him often anyway.  He also has a couple small stuffed animals in the crib he likes to cuddle with as he sleeps.

    I do the same thing.

My FFFC: I leave DD in her baby jail for about an hour each morning to play with her toys. I'm in the same room, usually reading and having a cup of coffee. Every ten minutes or so I'll look at her and tell her what she's playing with, what color it is, etc. She's perfectly content and happy to explore her little world on her own. I think it's important for her (and me) to have some time to play by herself.

I do this too! He loves his blanket at nap time, I just usually check to be sure he doesn't have it over his face once he falls asleep. We have even used it at night to help him fall asleep and then taken it away once he is out.

My FFC- I am sad DH is gone for 4 days because he helps so much but I am actually glad to not have to clean up behind him. Coke cans do not belong with the dirty dishes!

Namara I was thinking of starting this thread and then thought it was too early and no one would be up!  Then I realized we have small babies and I cannot remember the last time I slept past 6:15!

This!!!! I usually trick DH into taking the Saturday night shift so Sunday morning I can sleep in because it is still "his turn!"

  • imageLibraryChica:

I have never cut DD's toenails. Fingernails I am ok with, but I'm intimidated by toenails.

I've never cut her nails at all! It scares me to death. My mom has done it for me a few times, but I'm afraid to do it myself.

We often let DD have her time to herself on her playmat, etc. and she seems to really need and enjoy her time to herself - I think she gets worn out with us in her face all the time, and sometimes just needs time to quietly play and talk to herself and her things.

My FFFC: I'm becoming increasingly comfortable with the "if you're ok to drive, you're ok to BF (in relation to drinking)" - not that I drink a lot but if I have a beer after she goes to bed, and she wakes up earlier than expected, I'm not too worried anymore about nursing her back to sleep.

  • Beer is good for the boobie milk -- enjoy! (I have :))

My FFFC: Last Saturday MIL 'helped me' watch DS for an hour after they were over for brunch for DH's bday. DS was cranky from being overtired and it kind of made me feel good that she didnt know how to settle him down and that she needed me to do it. On that note, I find that I tend to make ANY excuse I can so that she and FIL are never needed to babysit. Hopefully I can keep this up until my children are...umm...18.

  • I use a blanket and a stuffed toy for DD for her naps. And I still let her nap in her aaalmost too small bassinette thingy because there she'll sleep for up to an hour. If I put her in the crib she's up after 15 minutes. I know I'm just prolonging the issue but man is it nice when she's asleep and I can just work arond the house or not do anything at all LOL

Also, I really try to avoid having MIL watch DD. In fact she has only watched her once. One could say it's because we do take DD with us pretty much everywhere and that in case we need a sitter our best friends live only a mile away whereas MIL is about 20 miles away. But the main reason is that DD cries every time MIL or FIL pick her up. DD is super chill and other people hold her all the time. She's awesome at daycare and when our friends watched her for an entire week while daycare was closed she hardly made a peep. But boy when MIL comes near it's a screamfest! So I don't want to expose her to that stress as I don't think a 5.5-month old can be "trained" to relax around her grandma... I also don't want to admit to DH that that is the reason I always say it's because our friends are so much closer and it's easier....

  • I feel horrible that I am not allowing my sister to have the same relationship with DD as I have with my nephew (her son) she calls every weekend to ask can she keep DD overnight and I agree because I do feel I need a day to myself sometimes. But then come friday I get off work and miss DD so much that I change my mind and keep her home with me. Selfish. My partying days are over so when she does go over there I sit home and miss her more. Ugh Mama needs a life!

I should have added that I had my Nephew almost every weekend up until I had DD. He is like my own son, I just can't seem to let DD go even though I know she is in good hands:()

I do both of these... i like hearing her play in there on her own :)

the other day i posted a screen grab of my video monitor on fb with the blanket over her feet and someone was all like what is that!?! is that a blanket!!? I'm really worried about your baby!!! No kidding. I was like jeez, relax, it's over her feet and I'm watching her on a video monitor! I ended up taking the pic down because she wouldn't let up. then i saw her a few days later and she mentioned it two more times. ugh.

  • Thought of another one...

I cant find a changing table I like, so I am going to 'McGyver' one out of kitchen cart I saw at Ikea that has *almost* perfect dimensions. Im kind of embarrassed on how excited I am to attempt this this afternoon...

My ILs are not allowed to babysit, my parents don't live close so its not an issue but I'm not sure I would let them either. DH and I both have CRAZY moms. We agreed when we got married that neither of our mothers would ever be allowed to live with us. Our Dads on the other hand are awesome and we would welcome them anytime. I really hope I don't turn out as crazy as my mom. <-- One of my biggest fears!

So I'm not the only one with a DH who puts trash in the sink!  In his bachelor days, he rarely put a trash bag in the trash can.  He just dumped the trash in the bag when it was time to empty the can.  He would rinse his trash off before throwing it away so the can didn't get icky.  Nowadays, I still have to remind him to put a bag in the can, and he sometimes still thinks he needs to rinse his trash before throwing it away.  He's so weird sometimes.

This seems like SO much more work than just putting a bag in the trash can! Weird. But hey, at least he does SOMETHING with the trash, other than leaving it whereever it lands...

The problem is he'd put it in the sink and forget to rinse and throw away.  He's gotten better about it when I explained that the bag holds the icky liquids, but I still find the occassional milkshake cup in the sink.

This is brilliant and I will definitely be doing this in the future.  I never remember to bring the NoseFrida everywhere with us anyway and since DS started daycare he has one constant cold.

Before we got the NoseFrida I sucked his boogers out once.  My DH threw up in his mouth.

Yup I am the "on the go" nosefrida haha!! It works so well, snot comes out all at once, grab a wipe to wipe off face, and there you have it!

OMFG my husband does this too.  It makes me want to stab him!

Mine does this with water bottles....WTF.  But what makes me most stabby is that after a big fight about him leaving dishes in the sink (we have a dishwasher) and not at least rinsing them, he started using paper plates.  Which would be a fantastic solution if he didn't just put those in the sink too.....sigh

My FFFC is I don't understand why people post half the shiz they do on this board. I mean I get the board is dead, but do you really have to ask for thoughts or opinions on EVERY LITTLE thing?  Do the opinions of internet strangers mean that much to you? I feel like the board would actually pick up if there weren't so many annoying, pointless posts.

So the people who are here and posting should stop so they don't annoy you and then you might post here?
