i'm gonna miss this

Since DD was born, I have thought about the day I would start giving her food (so far she's only had watermelon, we're gonna start on a more regular basis pretty soon) and every time I think about it I get a little sad.

I had a rough start with nursing her, but once we got the hang of it, I have just been enjoying it so much. I love it so much more than I ever thought possible... I am so hoping that when she starts eating solids more regularly that she still nurses the same, because I feel like my baby is growing up so fast!

Anyone else feel this way?

Re: i'm gonna miss this

  • DS has had solids for a month now (only once a day though), and his nursing habits haven't changed yet.  I admit the reason I haven't offered him 2 meals a day is that it's easier to just BF.  As good as it'll be when he's on normal people food, I will miss the convenience of not needing to worry about what baby is eating.

  • Yes I also had a long hard struggle with BF and now I love it!  Will definitely miss the convenience!  We have started solids and they are a major pain in the arse.

  • It's funny, I was always so excited to start solids and have my DD sit up in a high chair and join all the cool kids, haha. Dreams of cheerio-covered faces were in my head. I'd read posts from women talking about savoring BFing and I'd be like - sigh, it's fine, but I definitely won't miss it. Then DD starts solids, and she's cut down BFing to only 4 times per day (!!!) and now I'm crazy sad. Half of the time, she's so distracted from the cats or that noise over there or sticking her hand in my mouth or basically anything that she doesn't even let me have those wonderful quiet moments where her eyes are closed, her hands tenderly resting against your chest, and she's drinking away contently. No, she's generally craning to look away from me, nipple still in mouth. So, yes, I absolutely feel you. I miss my little snuggly baby and providing for her, both nutritionally and for comfort!
