So I'm thinking about quitting pumping during the work day, but still nursing morning and evening. DS will be 8 months next week, and I'm just burnt out from pumping, plus DH and I want to start TTC (I still haven't gotten my period). Anyway, I was thinking of trying to nurse just morning and night and wondered how this works? Can I still nurse when I get home from work, before bed, if he wakes in the night, and morning, but not pump during the day? Does anyone who does this still nurse during the day on weekends (that probably messes with supply too much)?? Also, when should I start introducing formula (we have a decent freezer stash for a couple weeks worth)? Should I do like 1 bottle of formula a day to get him used to it, or just after the freezer stash runs out?

I did what you're talking about at 12 months and it's going well. The older your baby is when you quit pumping, the better, but at 8 months you stand a good chance of success with partial weaning. I nurse when we're together, including weekends, no problem. When I'm gone, he has water or WCM - at 8 months, you'd have to give formula at daycare. Nursing in the day on weekends is fine. I might be a bit more full on Monday, but it's not bad.
No idea on the formula. Have you ever tried it? You might want to try one bottle to see if he'll drink it. If he doesn't like it, you could transition more slowly (mixing with BM).

I stopped pumping at around 12 months. I had gradually weaned down my number of pumping sessions for a month or two before I stopped all together, so my supply did OK with the change.
On days I worked, I would feed DS before work if he was awake and after work if he was still up. If he was already in bed before I got home, I'd pump if I needed to before bed (I work 12-13+ hour shifts, so occasionally it would be 24 hours between nursing sessions). After a couple of weeks, even if it was 24 hours between nursing sessions, my supply held up and I wasn't miserably full. On my off days, I would nurse on demand.
It's been a year since I last pumped, but DS is still nursing a few times a week without any trouble.
