  We had DD yesterday & her birthday is today.  We are just putting a #2 candle on a piece of cake from yesterday & having her open presents from us today.

  we went out to dinner and then got him a very small cupcake with a candle to blow out at home. He opened his presents from dh and I as well.

  Both times, I made cupcakes and we celebrated that evening with a special supper, candles on the cupcakes, sing Happy Birthday, and let her open presents from us.  That's what we always did growing up, so that is my only reason for doing it that way.

  We went out to eat with friends (DD and I are born on the same day)  That weekend we had a party with cake and presents.
