please tell me I'm not alone - LO won't eat solids

At first I wasn't worried about it, thinking my DD would eventually come around but now that she's almost 9 months old it's stressing me out!

DD won't eat solids - baby purees, cereals, oatmeal, puffs, mac & cheese, cut up avocado, banana etc - everything is a bust - I'm feeling like I've tried it all.

She screams, won't open her mouth, and won't swallow...it's miserable.

She likes eating mum mums, and baby cracker/teether cookies but that's about it...she just loves milk. She's had nothing but breast milk up until now but that's about to change because my frozen supply is almost gone - so formula is in her future.

I feel like I'm a bad Mom that she isn't eating solids.

Anyone else having this problem? Anyone have advice? TIA!!!!!

  • Abby is the same way!  We even have the help of our occupational therapist, too. She will eat a few bites, occassionally, so we know she's capable of eating the solids, but she just won't. Sorry I don't have any real adivce, just letting you know you're not alone!

  • I just posted about this yesterday. DS started off good but has refused solids for a month now. Everyone told me not to worry, so I will tell you the same thing! I asked the pedi today and she didn't seem concerned. I guess they will all get there eventually.

  • PHEW, thanks guys! - that makes me feel better that I'm not alone. I'm anxiously awaiting the day Kendall yums up some food! Hopefully that day isn't too far away for all of us!

  • We are in the same boat. She refuses to eat from a spoon unless there is ice cream on it. She gags and throws up anything that has some texture to it. I just don't know what to do. I try every week and every week, she ends up crying from me trying to get the spoon in her mouth.

  • Does she show any interest in stealing your food?  My LO only recently started eating and a lot of times we had to pretend that were were eating for her to accept food.  She was also more likely to accept finger food (or something out of our fingers) than a spoon.
