Hey guys, my 10mo no longer breastfeeds. I would still pump so he could still get the breastmilk, but the lack of sleep is now catching up with me so I stopped last Thursday (baby wakes up 3am every morning).
Hubby and I wants another baby but not for another year or more...how can I store my pump to ensure that it will still work with baby no. 2? I have the Medela Pump In Style.
Re: How to store Medela Pump
I packed away all my pump parts and pieces inside the bag, and then put it in the closet on the top shelf in my closet. Mine still works, but it is dying. However, I EP'd with it for over 11 mos with DS. So it got a TON of use.
ETA: I did the same as pp- I cleaned everything and made sure it was dry before I packed it away. I did not get new tubing, but I did after DD arrived. I also bought all new pump parts for DD.. but you don't have to do that if you clean them/sanitize them well.
In addition to sterilizing all the parts as PPs mentioned (even the tubing if you want to re-use it!), take the yellow faceplate off and use a medela wipe to clean the plate and the pump itself behind it.
Store in a dry place so there's no mold growth (i.e. no basements or attics). I have mine in a closet in DS's nursery.
