Ok, I'm going in possibly tonight but definitely tomorrow morning for an induction and I'm kind of freaking out! I think I've been reading too many horror stories on here and I need some encouragement. So please, share your wonderful birth stories involving induction!
Re: Please share your happy induction stories :)
I was sort of induced. Basically I was having contractions just not ones strong enough to produce any progress. I went in at 12:30 pm, had everything hooked up, they broke my water, had an epi around 3:00, was pushing about 5:15 and had DD at 5:55 that afternoon. Good Luck!!
MH just asked me if we could do it the exact same way again since it went so well. We're both nervous about spontaneous labor this time!

Basically, I went in for an NST, had super low AF and wasn't allowed to leave the hospital. I got cervadil around 9 pm, slept, labor started at 2 am and DD was born at 2 pm.
I was lucky in not needing pitocin or even an epi.
With ds1, I was contracting but nothing super strong. They didn't want to send me home since we lived far away from the hospital. They broke my water, contractions got stronger, got an epi around 7cm, slept a few hours and woke up ready to push. I pushed for over 3 hours and ended up needing forceps to get him out but we were both fine (whole labor was around 24 hours). I blame the epi for the long pushing time since I couldn't feel anything at all.
With ds2, I was induced for medical reasons a day before my due date. I was already 3-4cm dilated at the start of induction. I was all hooked up by 8-8:30am and had him at 2 that afternoon. It was an awesome induction experience and, if I have to be induced again, I really hope for a similar experience. Good luck!
With DD, I got induced 10 days after my due date because of pre-e symptoms. I was 0 dilated and 0 effaced without any contractions or BH! I went in around 8p, got a little bit of cytotec that evening. I slept pretty well - better than DH on the hard couch
The next morning, I started pitocin and had it all day long. I mostly labored in the tub. Around 8p, my doc stopped the pitocin and gave me another small dose of cytotec (because I was only at 1cm) - it wasn't too bad, I just layer on the bed trying to rest because the pitocin had tired me out. At 10p, my water broke on its own and my contractions started to come on hard. I wanted to do it naturally, but I was too tired. So, I agreed to an epi. At 2am, I felt wet and talked to the nurse who told me that it was normal to sometimes feel "wet" when having an epi - just one of the possible sensation side effects. At 3am, I was feeling the contractions, but was able to labor threw them. My doula arrived at 4a and found that I felt wet because my epi had popped out and was wetting my bed. I still had to labor on the bed because they weren't sure when my epi had popped out - but it wasn't too bad with my DH and doula applying counter pressure. Finally, at 6:30a, I felt the need to push and pushed DD out by 7:15a. So I did get to labor and push the final parts sorta naturally.
Good luck to you!
I was induced with both kids due to pre-e.
With #1: Induced at 38w0d. Started at 3cm and 80% effaced. The induction lasted 7 hours from Pitocin to birth, including 30 mins of pushing. DS was 9.5lbs and I had 2nd degree tears.
With #2: Induced at 39w0d. Started at 6cm (!!!) and 80% effaced. The induction lasted 4 hours from Pitocin to birth and I only pushed ONCE. DD was 9.3lbs and I had zero tearing.
Good luck to you mama!

I had a super easy uncomplicated induction.
I was scheduled to go in at 4am, but then they were too busy so I waited around for a call back, finally at 330pm they told me to get to the hospital ASAP. Checked in and started pitocin and antibiotics at 430pm.
They had to keep increasing my pitocin bc I wasn't having strong contractions. about 1am my water broke on its own. At 4am I got an epdiural at 3.5cm. At about 5 or 6am I fell asleep and woke up at 730 feeling the need to push. I called in the nurse and I was a 9cm. They got everyone in the room and I remember looking at the clock I am going to have this baby by 8am on the dot. Sure enough! J was born perfect at 8am 7lbs 15oz and 20" long. I only tore a little bit 3-4 stitches.
ETA I was 41 weeks on the dot.
My water broke at 12:30am on a Wednesday. The hospital was very busy, and since I wasn`t contracting, they sent me home. I went back Thursday morning, and was hooked up to Pitocin at 1pm.
I watched TV and hung out with DH all day. My doc checked me at 9pm and I was still closed up tight. By 10pm I was 2cm. By 11:30pm, I was 5cm. I got EPI at 12:30am, and between 1am and 2am I went from 5/6cm - 10cm. My doctor was shocked and she arrived at 3am. Since they had to stop the pitocin during the EPI, I didn`t have a single contraction when it was push time from 3am-3:25am.
After a few pushes, DD was born at 3:51am.
It was shocking how fast things went, once they got started. I was only ``in pain`` from 10pm - 12:30am. I pray this time around goes as smoothly. The only scary part was at 1am, my body started shivering and shaking. I was pretty upset, because I couldn`t sleep, and we didn`t expect baby anytime soon. But it was my body reacting to such a big change.
I was induced with my son at 41 weeks 13 days. I was 0 dialated, baby was at not dropped and I was like 50% effaced (so not an ideal induction condition). They would not allow me to go any farther as my fluid was getting low at that point and a NST was not ideal (I wanted to wait until the next day at 42 weeks).
I went in at 7 Am, got pitocin for hours and hours. They maxed it out twice and nothing happened. It was not bad at all. I was allowed to walk around, I worked on my computer, watched a movie (no contractions, nothing). At around 7:30 PM, they asked if they could break my water. I had said no earlier as I did not want to start the 24 hour clock (where if you don't have your baby within 24 hours of having water broke they often force c-sections due to infection risk)... so I asked, what are my options? They said because I was now 42 weeks, had low fluid, etc-- I had none. I could break the water and see if labor started or I could wait and see and by the next day they would talk about a c-section regardless.
given this-- I finally agreed to having them break my water. They did and within 5 minutes I had super strong contractions that were about 6 minutes apart. Within 15 minutes they were 3-4 minutes apart. They checked me 45 minutes after my water broke and I was already a 7 (from a zero before they broke my water). I got an epi then (that is the only part I regret as it was not really needed and I think prolonged pushing) and about an hour or so later, I was at a 10. I never felt the need to push for about another hour or so. I had them turn down the epi to the point that I was able to kind of squat in my bed and felt everything... then I could feel enough to push.
Then-- the hard part for us was the actual pushing. I pushed for 3 hours and 54 minutes and then he flew out like a rocket all at once. Ie) i did not birth the head and shoulders seperate-- he flew out in 1 push. he was face up and he was crowed (in the ring of fire for over 3 hours and his face would not pop out).
I said no to any intervetions (ie- no forceps and no suction was used) as his heartrate was fine, so I did not see any need.
He was born and I was able to walk around and felt great within a hour or so (after they stiched me).
Pushing was more difficult that I thought, but other than that-- it was a positive experience. If I could be guaranteed the exact same this time, I would be very happy!
Good luck!
