I adored them. Truly. I was cut and they helped so much when I'd go to the bathroom. The Witch Hazel does miracles for cuts/tears or episiotomies and hemorrhoids.
Edit: I already bought two 48 packs.

Definitely. I have used them after each of my labors and even in between pgs when my hemmi's flare up.
For pp care, though, I will squirt a glob of cream on them before "tucking" them in place. They are always so nice and cool and provide instant relief. I have also used them the same way on stitches if/when the incision is still tender and sore.
Yes, you will want them. I got enough from the hospital though, so I never had to buy any. You might want to wait and DH can pick up some for you if you need to actually buy them.
DH and I married 8 years.
Mom of three, stepmom of one.
Is store brand just as effective as "tucks" brand? I looked on amazon and someone suggested just buying the generic CVS or rite-aid brand. Any one have experience?

I buy the Target "UP" brand and they work just fine.
I don't think I've ever heard of these! Are they just like normal pads but with witch hazel on them? Are they just for wiping or do you leave them on your panties like you would a pad?
You could also just use toilet paper and buy a bottle of witch hazel and pour it on them...fold it up on your pad. But the pre-soaked pads aren't that much, and I prefer convenience. They were heaven though, along with Dermoplast for my stitches (blue cap - NOT the red cap, that'll burn lol).
are they pads like sanitary pads? or pre-moistened pads? if they are already a little damp.. should I keep them in the fridge?
They feel like baby wipes (pre-moistened). Yes, keeping in the fridge does help even more! My last hospital started me on them in the hospital, but I know not every hospital does this.
Taking a witch hazel bath is suppose to be helpful too.
Agree that you'll want them, but like a few others have said, the hospital will send you home with some too. I never actually had to buy them, just used the couple of containers sent home with me.
I just bought some cotton squares and a bottle of witch hazel cuz its the same thing and its cheaper. I'm planning to lay them on top of my pad. You could also make some "padsicles" by pouring witch hazel on some pads and putting them in the freezer.

My hospital didn't send me home with some. I didn't even know about this until I got PG this last time and I'm like ":-O why didn't I know?!" I have also recently learned about dermoplast, which I will also be getting. All my hospital sent me home with, as far as analgesic, is a foam that I put on my pad and I think it had witch hazel in it cause it felt cool and would numb me for a little.
The Tucks or generic witch hazel pads look like those make up removing round circles. They're a little bigger and thicker though.

Just found this blog and it has a great example on what to do! With pictures! Also you get a pic of the lovely mesh underwear the hospitals give! lol

They were amazing after my epesiotomy (sp?). I had a 3rd degree cut and they soothed it. I'd def pick some up even if you don't tear or get cut, it'll sooth a sore perineum.

This might be a dumb questions but how are Tucks pads different from the witch hazel wipes? From the sounds of some of the responses you keep a tucks pad on and don't just wipe with it? I'm confused. I bought the witch hazel wipes-should I get Tucks too?

Definitely worth the $2-3!
Is there a certain "kind" or are they all the same? They are in the bladder/incontinence area of the store or where?

I love mine and hope they send me home with some. Yesterday i got to wear the ice packs too but you only get those the first 24 hrs for swelling.
so mesh panties, giant pad, ice pack, tucks pads on top closest to your skin.
you have to waddle to walk with all those layers but they feel so good especially if you get stitches.
