Two middle names?

Do any of you have two middle names? What do you all think of two middle names? If you have two middle names did it ever bother you? We were going to give our son my grandfathers name as a middle name which we really liked. Now we also want to honor my uncle who passed this week. So we are debating on doing two middle names. We like the way both sound we just can't make up our minds. TIA

  • We are giving DS 2 middle names. All of his names are family names.

Do it if you like. The only 'hiccup' I've heard happening is with the Social Security system when you sign up for baby's card. For whatever reason, they don't always know what to do with the extra name, I've heard.

  • My husband has 2 middle names. When he first told me I didn't believe him because I'd never heard anyone do that before. It doesn't bother him though. The second middle name gets cutoff a lot because there just isn't room on a form or whatever. Im almost positive it's on his SS card though.

  • My brother and his wife gave my niece 2 middle names. They regret it now because of complications with legal forms and it is just "too much to say."

They have just kind of dropped on of the names.

If you really want to do it to honor your family, that is great. I would just suggest really thinking it over.

  • Middle names aren't used very much, but like others said, it could be a PITA on forms, etc. later.

  • I know a few people with 2... The second one often gets left out, and forms can be a pain, a little worse than having a hyphenated last name (I have that problem)..., but if you like it, I don't see why not

  • I had two middle names, but dropped the second one when I changed my name after marriage. My first, middle, and last names were all two syllables and under, so the flow of my whole name was nice and not too long. But, it was a huge PITA on forms and school paperwork. Just my two cents!

  • If we have a girl she will have a hyphenated middle name. If she doesn't like it she can change it when she's 18. They are both family names.

  • I'm not a huge fan of multiple middle names BUT it sounds like you have a good reason to consider having more than one since you have family names that you'd like to include. That's a good enough reason for me!

  • I have two middle names...one is in memory of my grandfather and one is my mom's maiden name. It's never been an issue for me! :)

  • We are giving our baby 2 middle names.  One is so that when she goes to the Island my FI is from people will know what family she is from.  The other is because there is no one in my family that will be able to pronounce her middle name, and we are from the south so it is an absolute necessity =P

  • We are planning on using two middle names.  They are not family names, and I personally could do with dropping one, but my SO has had this boy's name picked out since high school.  I already made him change the first name, and just don't have enough of a problem with it to make him drop one of the middle names as well.

  • I don't have two middle names, and I don't know anyone who does (well not that I know of..), but one thing I would really consider is what you plan to do with your future children's names.. I might just be anal about certain things, but if I gave my first child two middle names, I would feel obligated to name all my children in that fashion so no one felt "left out" I guess, KWIM?
