Hi all,
So yesterday morning my daugther was as happy as can be. I changed her diaper and brought her in the kitchen to get a bowl of cereal. She was holding a teddy bear and was waiting for me. She all of the sudden let out this horrible scream as in pain, and her eyes were rolling back.. both eyes. I noticed her left eye started getting a bit puffy and red. So we rushed her to urgent care, and she had a corneal abrasion on her left eye. So she was fine later that night and today is herself. They gave her an antbiotic and we are seeing an eye doctor tomorrow to make sure it heeled. So my concern though.. is A. I have no idea how she got a cut in her eye.. unless something was on her teddy bear. So I will never know the answer to that. B. What really concerns me is the rolling back of the eyes... both eyes. I have never had to deal with anything with my eyes, so don't know if that would happen if you got a cut on one eye, or maybe there is something more serious? You never know when you go to an urgent care doctor as they don't really specialize in a certain area. I do know for sure she does have the cut, as my husband saw it once the doctor showed us. So I just wanted to see if anyone out there has ever dealt with anything like this and if I should be more concerned about the eyes rolling back. I am assuming the eye doctor will tell me tomorrow as well. Thank you!!
Re: Daugther's Eyes rolling back....
huh. I have never experienced that. I will say that I cut my one eye as a child very badly and I was in such severe pain I could not open my eye. I mean for two days I had to wear a patch and lay in a dark room. I was cut with newspaper though and it was more than one cut.
did you speak to her pedi about it?
The eye dr. will definitely help you. are you seeing a pediatric opthamologist? If you are concerned please tell him/her.
saying a prayer it is nothing and just rolled back maybe from the pain of the whole thing.
That is very frightening.
I also want to add to this. My older daughter did have a tic. she would blink her eyes constantly. It is common actually around this age to get tics. I was told many kids get them and most outgrow them. She had it for a few months. I was also told not to say a word about it and not to point it out. She grew out of it in about three months.
So like babyboynyc said there is so many things that kids do that are strange and it is nothing
I don't want to scare you, but this sounds like the description of a grand mal seizure's beginning. I don't know how the cut comes into play, though.
HI all,
Thank you for your response! I took her to the eye doctor today and the cut actually has already healed. The Doc mentioned that it is very normal for the eyes to roll back and if only one eye rolled.. then there would be an issue... they should both do the same thing when the other is in pain. So I am glad not as serious as I thought!!!
