Adoption

Little Miracles adoption agency?

DH and I have been trying to find a program that will accept prospective adoptive parents (for international adoption) prior to age 25.  We've spoken to a program coordinator at Little Miracles about their Kazakhstan program, and she seemed very enthusiastic and said our ages would not be an issue.  Does anyone have any experience with this agency?

Re: Little Miracles adoption agency?

  • Not familiar but do check w/the Yahoogroup for agency reviews.
Also-- are you aware that Kaz is just opening back up after being closed for adoptions for some time??

If I were you, I would research countries that accept PAPs that are under 25 and then find agencies that work in those countries.  You might have a better scope of choices.

     Good luck!

Yes, we've done a lot of research into Kaz!  That's how we found this agency.  LM was the first agency (and I think one of only two currently active) to be accepted to process Kaz adoptions after they reopened.  The program coordinator sent me the dialing info for a teleconference they'd just held on Kazakhstan adoptions through the organizations, and it was very informative.

Thanks for the Yahoo group referral!  I've found some reviews on the agency, but most of the feedback has come from families they list as references on their website.  I've been impressed working with the coordinator so far, but I'd love to hear from some other sources!

  • How much under 25 are you?  Some (many) states do have a minimum age requirement to have your homestudy approved in your state for ICA. If you're not in TX, LM may not know your state laws, so I would check into that too.

We'll both be 22 at application.  An agency we spoke with in our state said this wouldn't be a problem with anyone state-side; we'd just need to find a country open to younger couples.

  • Butting in here, not to talk about KZ adoptions but to tell you how much I love that country and the people!  I have spent time working at an orphanage there and loved it!  If DH was open to international adoption that would be my first choice.

  • Sounds like you are ready to move :)  Good for you.  Since so few agencies have been licensed to return to Kaz, I'd guess the one you mention has some good reputation/reasons for getting the approval.

    Good luck.

That's fantastic to hear!  Especially since we'd have to spend quite a bit of time in the country if we chose to adopt from there.
