I have come to the conclusion that I don't take care of myself like I should. I am lucky if I get to go to the bathroom alone, no less have extra time to take care of my skin, hands, hair or feet.
If I shower and brush my teeth I consider it a victory! I am getting DH to buy me all new good quality makeup for my bday in september though, so I can leave the house after baby without looking like a gutter troll. And I am considering chopping my hair short so it looks nice with our flat irons and such.

What make up are you going to go with? I use Bare Minerals right now...when I get that far with my life. I have yet to find a make up that stays.
I find that putting on face lotion, a dab of foundation under the eyes, a quick brush or blush on your face and using mascara is an easy way to brighten your face and make you look fresh.
While I can't promise these products will get you a bathroom to yourself (they don't work for me!) I use MAC make-up and Bumble & Bumble hair products and I'm slightly obsessed. I've seen a real difference (especially in my hair) since I've spent a little more money on these beauty products.
Andplusalso? The smell of B&B Creme de Coco shamp/cond almost brings me to orgasm. Yes, it smells that good.
I switched from Bare Minerals to MAC a few months ago because the coverage on Bare Minerals started to suck for me [I started using their matte powder, and my face hated it]. World of difference now.
A little eyeliner goes a long way. If nothing else, I put foundation, blush and eyeliner on just about every day to make myself feel like a million bucks [even if I really don't feel that way otherwise].
"Invest" in decent foundation. I love Lorac's Natural Performance foundation. I just set it with cheap sephora powder, it lasts all day.
Cetaphil. It's the only thing that I wash my face with.
Blow dry your bangs or any face framing pieces of hair first, and in the direction you want them to go. If you flip your head upside down and blow everything wildly, your bangs will never lay how you want them to.

I like that. It sounds like a quick "look" when you don't have time for the whole face. Thanks!
I use Make up Forever. before i go pg i use to do full face makeup now i just put foundation, bronzer and mascara on. 10 minutes and I'm done. Yes 10 mins for 3 things because i'm slow and i keep doing other things in between.

Oh, and if you straighten your hair, I think CHI ceramic straightener's are worth every penny.
Totally agree!
Also, if I can only do one thing before I walk out, it would be curl my lashes and use mascera (I guess technically that's 2 things, but it's on the same body part so...) I'm a fan of Dior mascera (worth the splurge)
I'm a Bare Minerals girl, but sometimes the application process takes awhile, so I also have a backup CoverGirl liquid foundation in a compact (like this: https://www.amazon.com/CoverGirl-Smoothers-Aquasmooth-Foundation-0-4-Ounce/dp/B001QX4QGE) that goes on really quickly and covers well. I have redness and scars and an overall pretty yucky skin tone, so I really have to have something to look presentable. My two-minute face is tinted moisturizer, the CG foundation, mascara, a sweep of blush for color, and chapstick.
As for hair, mine is fine and somewhat wavy/frizzy, so if I don't have time to blow it out, I have to stick it in a ponytail or clip. Fortunately, blow-outs are pretty quick with fine hair because it dries quickly. I'll at least wear jewelry on ponytail days so I still look like I made an effort.

Same for me except add in curl eye lashes. It makes a world a difference for me.

OK, here is another stupid question. For you or anyone. HOW do you apply YOUR foundation? Maybe that is where I am doing it wrong? I use a wedge sponge, but I either feel like it's too heavy or not enough. No happy medium.

you know what I hated? Lancome mascara. Worst $40 ever IMO.

I totally agree. For me, my daily routine is moisturizer, a tinted moisturizer over top of that, blush, and mascara on curled eyelashes.
Curling the eyelashes is key.
I would be so afraid I would rip my lashes out! ha-ha
Mini-sized lotions from Bath & Body Works (or wherever). I keep one in my purse at all times to tame flyaways or static-prone hair, especially in the winter. I hate hair gel, but just putting a teensy bit of lotion on my hands and then running my hands through my hair does the trick.
Vaseline Lip Therapy. I buy the little pots of it at Target (for like, $1.19 or something), and I use it constantly in place of lip gloss since I can never seem to keep track of my lip glosses..
Eyeliner. It makes a world of difference. Also, a light-reflecting, shimmery eye shadow. If I'm feeling particularly yucky, I'll dab a little bit of it on the inside corner of my eye and also on the middle of my eyelid. It brightens up my face and makes me look more alert. Be careful, though, 'cause it's a slippery slope between looking pretty and alert, and looking like you think you were a pixie in another life.
Johnson's Aloe Vera & Vitamin E Baby Oil Gel. I've been using this for about 4 years now to combat razor burn since I always have super dry skin after I shave. This does the trick.

I went into MAC a couple months ago and told the lady to give me a natural and easy look. She did my makeup and I purchased everything she used and now I have gotten so used to applying it that it takes me about 5-10 minutes to apply it.
I also use burt's bees makeup remover wipes because I am too lazy and tired most nights to use a face wash.
I wash my hair every other day (sometimes I wait even longer) because I have thick, dry, wavy hair. When I do wash my hair I blow dry my bangs (as a PP mentioned) so that they don't curl or go into a weird direction.
My small confession also is that I use Banana Boat self tanner about 2 times a week including on my face. It evens out my skin tone and gives me a glow so I always feel put together.

I hate the Lancome mascara as well. It's gunky and dries out way too fast! My sister is a makeup genius and I feel like I've narrowed down my favorites after trying a ton of different brands. I use BeautiControl face wash/exfoliator/cream before bed. For make up, I use MAC for eyeshadow, Dior for mascara (definitely worth the $!!), and Lancome for my foundation/blush. I had a Lancome artist do my foundation and she had me do a small dab of liquid foundation on my hand and I use a brush to apply. That way you can start light and add as needed. I love it! And I second MrsJenni on the CHI, worth every penny!

This is my theory, too. I don't do the blush, but foundation and eyeliner are my staples. I've also finally mastered liquid liner and no longer have to worry about smudging. TBH, if I put it on the night before to go to dinner or something, I often don't need to reapply in the AM if I've been lazy and don't wash my face... (Not a tip I'd take, btw.)

ha-ha that made me laugh.
You ladies are awesome. Thank you for all the tips. I promise I didnt C&P them so i could print them out.
--Wash your face every night and find a good cleanser. Lately I've been loving Origins Checks and Balances. I actually look forward to washing my face bc it feels so nice, and I'm even finding my usually oily skin less oily these days (pregnancy or the cleanser, not sure, but I'm happy!).
--Fill in and even out your eyebrows with powder and a good little brush. It makes your whole face look more put-together.
--Establish a good spot to do your make-up. I converted a little desk into a dressing table and everything is just right there, much handier than if it was all in drawers in the bathroom. It takes me 5 mins to do my whole face (foundation--I use Bare Minerals, too, eyes, cheeks, etc).
--the BIG Bobby pins are my best friend. On my non-hair wash days or if I don't have time to blow-dry, I usually do a little chignon or bun and it's like 2 seconds to do that.
Even when I am being lazy and don't want to do a full face, blush, mascara and gloss are essential. It gives you a more finished look even if you aren't.
For full face, primer is key! It keeps your skin from absorbing it so it stays all day instead of being pretty much gone by lunchtime. It will also help the foundation go on more smoothly. I always use a foundation brush.
For putting on mascara, start at the base of your lashes, wiggle the brush back and forth a bit in order to really get the bristles between the lashes, then twist the brush away from your eye as you pull it away. It will help keep from getting clumps, separates them and makes sure each lash gets nice and coated. I have never used a lash curler because I don't need one so I am no help there. But my favorite is "They're Real" by Benefit
On a light make-up day I do a really thin line of black liner on my upper lids (as close to the lashes as possible), then I use a subtle white highlighting shadow (Aveda) which I sweep just over the black line, just under the arch of my brow and in the corner of my eye.
I'll then add mascara (Aveda) and some blush (Origins). If I have a blemish, I like Lancome's liquid foundation and I usually just use it to spot treat instead of putting it over my whole face.
My THICK hair requires a hot tool and a smoothing fluid in order to tame it - no tricks or shortcuts there. I shoudl invest in a CHI.
Aveeno or neutrogena tinted moisturizer, bronzer, mascara and pink lip gloss is my go-to routine for day to day stuff. However, none of it matters without a great cleanser. I like Lush "angels on bare skin" and kiehls ultimate cleanser.

1-Foundation brushes rock, so much better that sponges
2-Darker eyeliner on top than the bottom ( since im darker I use black on top and brown on the bottom)
3-MACs highlighting shimmer powder, cant live with out it!
Im one of those people that goes to the grocery store in full regalia, I hate going out undone. Just my thing. I use concealer, foundation (at least in winter, in summer i use a cliniques city base cream/powder foundation and just hit the trouble areas) eyeliner, neutral but slighly shimmery eye shadow from MAC, mascara w. curler ( usually MAC, but now im dying to try DIOR now that everyone is saying how much it rocks), blush, highlighting powder and tinted lip gloss.

Try getting a foundation brush if you use a liquid foundation. That was another "beauty life" changing moment for me. I literally paint my face on everyday.
Foundation brush.. you may like Mac's 187 duo fibre face brush which is $42 or you can go with Sigma's F50 Duo Fibre which is $18, works great for me. It looks like it streaks your foundation on but you have to blend and i feel like it doesn't make it too cakey or too light. Your happy medium.

This! I used to be in love with Bare Minerals but it stopped doing it for me and I switched to MAC when I got pregnant and I LOVE it! Also I splurged on a Clairasonic Mia and a big bottle of their cleanser and my skin has never looked better, I get complimented on it all the time.
For my hair I'm obsessed with Joico products. I usually wash my hair at night, run a comb thru it with a little serum, let it air dry, then flat iron it in the AM.
I use Stila One Step Correct to even out my skin tone. It replaces primer, foundation, and concealer for any faint imperfections, and it also brightens and has SPF.
Too Faced Natural Face palette. This thing is amazing. It has everything to give me that glory, bright eyed and bushy tailed look. Pregnancy had given my skin a lovely grey tone during first tri and this was the only thing that was able to cover up the effect of sleepless nights, and mornings with my head in the toilet.
Too Faced Natural Eye palette. Quick, easy, and comes with how-tos for three different looks. (same with the palette above)
Finish with mascara and in 5-10 minutes, you'll look great without looking overly made-up!

I prefer a good foundation brush. You don't waste as much makeup that way either.
I have decent skin, or at least that is what I have been told so I don't do a whole make-up routine I use cover girl mascara (orange tube, don't know which one exactly), eye liner, and shadow. For my hair I either spritz some spray gel in while it's wet for a wavy, frizz free look or I use a straightener to enhance the layers. To finish the look I put a neutral lip gloss on, my fav is L'Oreal lip plumper
The only makeup I wear every day is mascara. It's enough to brighten my face and make me look awake. I hate foundation so I rarely use it. I love MAC's eye shadows b/c they have such fun colors to play with. Alas, I don't have the extra 5 minutes in the AM anymore to do that. And, with my glasses on (I only wear them when I'm pregnant) I don't think you can really see eyeshadow anyway.
I love lip glosses but they wear off so fast that I barely use them.

I agree. I love primer. My beauty tip is don't spend a lot of money on primers. I actually use Monistat Chafing Gel as a primer. It's like $8 a tube and lately it comes in handy to keep my thighs from rubbing together too!

Glasses will often draw more attention to the eyes and unless all you are using is a nude shadow, it is noticable!

I know right? Nope I read it in more than one magazine where a couple celebs said that was their beauty trick. It's doesn't have any "monistat-type" ingredients, it's just a thicker chafing gel really and it makes your skin feel really silky before you apply foundation. I was skeptical, but now I'm a convert and recommend it to everyone.

Our Baby Boy is due September 8, 2012
