Round 2 after methotrexate

I had to have methotrexate at the beginning of May, due to chemical pregnancy.   For people that have had methotrexate, how long have you waited to try for a fresh cycle of IVF?

    I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that.  I had mtx in January (2008) and I think could have cycled in March, but due to other issues were pushed back to April.  I think the general number thrown out there is 3 months, but check with your RE.
    2004-Started TTC; Nov 2007-Lap with endo removed; Jan 2008-Ectopic (mtx); April 2008-IVF #1 (bfp, twin girls); March 2011-FET (cp); June 2012-IVF #2 (bfp, singleton, EDD 3-19-12)

    3 months is the norm as MTX is pretty nasty stuff. Sorry you are having to deal with this, I had to have MTX on 2 separate occasions 

    Multiple ectopics, 2 failed IVF's
    IVF #1: Did not get to ET, embies all failed PGD (major chromosomal defects)
    IVF #2: We have 2 chromosomally perfect embies as a result of PGD (Boy/Girl) 1 failed the thaw (Girl) Transferred 1, yet ended as a c/p
    Thought it was the end of our TTC Journey 6/20/2012
    SHOCK BFP 9/28/2012: IT'S A BOY! and everything is normal !!!!!!

    Little A born 38w 2d on 05/23/13 and is a true miracle for this IF Vet!

    I'm sorry for your loss.  Hugs.

    I've had MTX recently.  There are wildly different opinions about how long you must wait to cycle again after MTX.  You should talk with your RE and find out his/her opinion.

    Generally speaking, in the US you're going to see most doctors telling you to wait three months.  This advice is defensive medicine at its finest -- fear of a medmal claim.  People say that you must wait three months because, they claim, MTX depletes your body of folic acid.  Not true.  Folic acid is a form of Vit B which is water soluble meaning your body doesn't "store" folate.  After your hCG reaches 0, you should start taking your prenatal vitamin again.  My RE said one unmediated cycle is all you need to wait.  But this is an important decision that you must make with the advice of your RE.
