I assume your spouse should be able to put in as much effort as you to save themselves, as well as mother. But the child wouldn't be able to. Plus my spouse should be able to help with the mother. IMO

I would save the baby. But hopefull this never is an issue in real life.
#1 - I only go boating with enough life vests (including one already ON my kids)
#2 - DH and Mom had opportunities to save themselves...if they can't swim, they are adults and should have been smart enough to wear a life vest.
I dread the day I would ever have to choose which of my children to save if I could only get to one...
This and this is why I'm afraid to go boating with just DH and 3 kids. Although, the big ones can swim well with life jackets on. But it still goes through my mind.
actually, studies show that most women would always save their child and would save their child even if it means giving up their own life ( like childbirth situation) but most men given the same circumstances would save their wives. I am sure it would be hard to get an honest opinion out of men who just had a baby and who are being faced down by their spouse :-) this study was discussed in both my psych classes and sociology classes.
Child. There is no question. I actually have to side-eye anyone who wouldn't choose their child.
Agreed. Me and my husband actually just had a convo about how we'd both save Violets life over each others lives. Very pleasant topic to chat about haha.

You know, I could see my husband saving me over the baby, but not over our oldest. He's just not as attached to Sadie yet.

This isn't exactly the same, but similar enough that it's worth sharing. A friend of mine went to high school with this girl. Heartbreaking, but demonstrates just what any mom would do to save their child.
Hands down, LO....there is no way I would try to save anyone else. The PP about men more likely choosing their wives if they had to save someone: I believe it- before LO was born, DH and I fought about it- I told him that if it ever came down to it, to save my LO, no matter what. He had such a hard time agreeing to it, he said he didn't think he would be able to, and he would try and save me. Very luckily, that was a bridge we never had to cross!

Maybe there's a man on the board. lol
THIS.
They're little and you've got two arms.
Right?!?! I fail to understand how anyone would choose to let their baby drown.

Omg. There are a lot of women saying they'd save their mother because they can have "more spouses and more children." Wtf
Well, I found this forum, and lost hope in mankind there for a moment.
