My due date was on June 27th and I'm currently 40 weeks and 4 days overdue. I had my NST on Friday and during that 20 30minute time period, I was having labor contractions that lasted 1-3 minutes and 2-3 minutes apart. Doctor was pleased with the results of the fetal movements but I am only still 1 cm dilated and in my doctors term "kind of soft", We talked about induction and I'm waiting until I'm 42 weeks to be induced so in the meantime of being overdue, I had my doctor strip my membranes in hope of going into real labor this weekend. Well, it's Sunday and I'm sitting here in disappointment having to go to work and co-workers asking me all the same questions and statements since passed my due date.
Ive done EvERYTHING that I can think of to lots of walking to going up and down the stairs. I have another NST and an AFI on Tuesday also im going to ask the doctor for another membrane sweep.I've pretty much lost all hopes of going into labor naturally by myself. I strongly want to stay away from being induced but when that 42 week mark hits, I have no other choice but to be induced. HELP ME!!!! ='(
Re: Overdue and waiting with some frustration.
Right there with ya. 1cm 80% effaced. And my doctors haven't even scheduled me a NST yet or talked to me about induction because they're incompetent buffoons and I've had to do all my own research about what to do when you go past your due date.
(They're getting a bitchy phone call at 8am tomorrow morning...)
I'm sorry for your frustration. At 42 weeks I still wasn't dilated and my cervix was thick. I was really disappointed that going into labor wasn't going to happen naturally, but I had great luck with cervidil. My midwife gave me two doses (12 hours apart), and four hours into the second dose I was 7 cm. I ended up having my little girl at 42 weeks and 1 day without any other medication or interventions; it was a wonderful birth experience once I resigned myself to the induction.
Good luck!
