Trouble TTC

New here. Questions about SA

I am new here. I have been trying to conceive for over a year. We started fertility medicine 3 months ago. My husband did his SA last week.

His count was 50mil which I was told was normal but on the lower side of normal. Is it any cause for concern? Morphology was normal and motility was 85%. The only other thing I questioned was my husband's pH was high a 9.0. My doctor said it wasn't anything to be concerned about because the rest of his test results were normal, his sperm is just more alkaline than normal.

Does anyone know how higher pH affects conceiving?

Thanks for any and all feedback.

Me: 26 DH:37 Dx: LPD, late ovulation SA: Normal, Count on low normal side (50mil), High pH (Dr not concerned) TTC since May 2011 July 12 starting Cycle #13 3rd cycle of Femara and Progesterone

Re: New here. Questions about SA

  • From what I understand, pH has very little role in fertility. So I would not be concerned.

  • That all sounds like a great result. I would think that a higher than average pH would be advantageous since the vagina is acidic (sometimes too acidic), so the sperm should survive even better.
