On the bright side, if neither of you have red hair, you may only end up with a Day-Walker as opposed to a full-blown ginger.
Being a Day-Walker myself, I can tell you that we get to enjoy having lovely red hair, but we still get tan! Unfortunately, we still have no souls, so you're out of luck there...
Oh, and OP... on the off-chance that this is not some kind of MUD for our Friday afternoon enjoyment, I just wanted to let you know that the "worst" possible thing that will happen if your baby has red hair is that strangers will say, "Oh, my, where did (s)he get that beautiful red hair?!", to which you will reply, "My husband's side of the family. His sister is a redhead."
I have blonde hair and blue eyes, and my parents are both brunettes (one with hazel eyes, one with brown). No one ever questioned whether my dad was REALLY my dad. Find something more worthwhile to worry about.

Yes it is, a friend of mine is a the only red head in his immediate family and his sisters daughter has red hair. There is nothing wrong with red hair.
Mother of Two Awesome Kiddos, DS is almost 3 and DD was born in November
If no one in your family has red hair it is unlikely that your child will have red hair. You have to carry the gene mutation for red hair and your husband has to carry it. In addition to that your child has to express the double mutation. So it is unlikely if you have no recollection of any redheads in your family history, or you are not Irish/ Scottish (they have a higher incident of the mutation).
My mother is a redhead and out of four children none of hers were redheads. I am hoping that I have a redhead because my DH family has a history of redheads.
ETA: I have to add that while unlikely- it is not impossible. The mutation could be there and never expressed in your family history. Also, I agree with PP, this sounds like gingerism and is not a legitimate worry.
The gene for red hair can be passed down for several generations. DH and I both have brown hair and out popped DD with red hair. Turns out her great grandma on my side had red hair. I never knew until DD was born and I kept saying.. where did this red hair come from! Her great, great grandpa on her dad's side supposedly had red hair.
I would never have guessed that I would have had red haired child. But now I can't imagine DD being any different. In fact, it's weird to think this next kid mostly likely won't have red hair. That seems weird to me now.

My son has strawberry blonde hair and dimples, its adorable! My husband and I don?t have red hair so people always ask where he gets it from but so what. Who cares what color his hair is he is a normal sweet little boy. There is nothing weird about it.

My mom has blue eyes, medium fair skin and dark hair. My dad has brown eyes, black hair and very tan skin.
I'm a ginger.
What's your concern, honestly? Afraid that your child will get more compliments on their beautiful naturally red hair than you will on your post baby "glow"?

Are you sure there's no red on your side? If you're caucasian, it can hide in your family tree. I had no idea that there was red hair in my family because my grandpa's hair was white for the whole time I knew him, and all his descendants are blonds or brunettes. Enter my in-laws' Scottish genes, and DD gets red tones in her hair. I love it. Even though it's not the same as mine. She looks an awful lot like my SIL, too, as a dead ringer for DH.
i think i would feel as if it wasent our baby, u know.
Just cuz no one in my family has red hair. and both me and him are dark hair dark eyes and skin. so it would be a lil weird
How could you ever feel this baby isn't yours? Did you have sex to create it? Is it growing inside you now? Will it be pushed out of your vag to enter this world? Do none of those things matter to you? the only way the baby will feel like it's yours is if it looks just like you?
I hope you get over yourself for this child's sake. Or I at least hope that he/she will come out looking like you so that we could all at least rest assured that you will love him/her more than you would a ginger.
I had red hair until I was about 6 or 7. Then it started to turn auburn, then a darker brown. My father's eyes were blue, and my mother's are hazel. I got her eyes. My aunt (mother's sister) has two children. Her hair is strawberry blonde and her eyes are blue. I don't remember my uncle's eye color. One of my cousins has red hair and blue eyes. The other has blonde hair and blue eyes.
My husband has blue-gray eyes and was born blonde. His hair eventually turned a medium brown. His sister has blonde hair and blue eyes. Both her sons were born blonde and I think their eyes are blue, but the eldest son's hair is turning brown now. He's 6.
I expect my son to be born with either blonde or red hair. Given I have hazel eyes and my husband has blue-gray eyes, I expect his eyes to be one or the other of these colors, as they're both recessive, so it's a crap shot which it could be. Whether or not his hair turns or remains red does not really concern me. For the most part, I think the stigma of a child with red hair has been done away with.
As for worrying whether or not people will think it's your child, don't worry. It's none of their business anyway.

My bff is a red head. Her parents and brother are not. In fact, no one in her family has red hair. We teased her that she was the milk man's daughter (out of fun) but she got to a point where she was seriously thinking she was adopted.
Turns out, her uncle, who is now bald, was at one point a red head. It was pretty funny actually. Now, she loves being a redhead since she's clearly not adopted. She likes to say she's a dying breed.
So yes, it can happen. But as long as your kid knows it's not adopted, it won't be an issue.
Besides, Brave has an all red-head cast. Equality for the gingers is coming. (sorry, had to get one in)

While I totally get your point here, the two bolded statements are not the only way a child can be biologically yours. If you've had an IUI, is the child not yours? If you've had IVF, is the child not yours? If you've had a c/s, is the child not yours?
OP, you are a moron!

The only way you could have a child with red hair is if you have the genetic code for red hair in you. Red hair is a recessive trait.
If you have the dark hair trait from one parent & red hair from another - you would express dark hair but you'd carry the genetic code for red hair that you could give to your child.
If your husband also were to carry the dark hair & red hair traits you would have a 25% chance your child would have red hair.
If you don't have the red hair trait there is no way genetically to produce a child with red hair because it's recessive.

Seriously my favorite ginger meme EVER. I sent it to my SIL when I noticed her baby boy had tints of red in his hair
This boy is ADORABLE.
I had to come out of lurker-dom to add this:

Sounds like you slept with someone (not your husband) who has red hair... you're awfully worried about this...

Sounds about right? Definitely a reason to worry...
