Diaper cover washing

I just got two more covers today...they are both PUL covers, like all of my others.  Why do they all have different washing instructions?  Some say to wash hot, some say warm, some say cold, some say dry low, some say line dry....it is crazy!  I thought it was designed to be used in the medical industry and disinfected at high temps?!

My plan was to wash the covers and prefolds together (after use when laundering -- I have already prepped my prefolds separately) with cold rinse, hot wash, cold rinse, and line dry the covers...maybe drying the covers on low or medium every so often if needed...is this not a good idea?

    I wash my covers on hot with everything else. Line drying is recommended since the elastic isn't protected by anything. I think your plan is fine!

    I asked a similar question a couple days ago about when/if dryers delaminate PUL. Most people seem to have no issues. I think some manufacturers have super conservative instructions just to extend the life of the diaper or warranty. I wash my PUL on hot and tumble dry on medium. No problems yet! :)

    I have had a cover delaminate already, and I line dry them. I do wash them with everything on hot, so I don't take chances with PUL in the dryer.

    We used to run our covers (Bummis) through the dryer every time (med heat) and it was fine. Then we got a bunch of used Motherease from a friend and did the same and the motherease covers stopped working after about 6 months. I'm not 100% sure it was our wash routine but I looked up their instructions and they say to line dry. I now line dry all the covers because if I'm pulling some out I may as well pull them all out. It's been about a year with the new covers and they're still going strong. I wash on warm because I'm lazy and wash everything on warm.
