Babies: 0 - 3 Months

FF poop question

Im sure this has been asked before, poop being such a hot topic in our lives these days :)

So my question is about consistency.  We FF and LO (8wks btw) is starting a bit of a poop routine. But Im noticing that every poop is straight up LIQUID. Ive heard that FF babies have a thicker poop, so im wondering if this is some kind of allergy? Maybe I should switch formula? We havent done anything differently, and its the same formula from the hospital that we have been giving him all along. Is this normal and I am just poop paranoid?

Re: FF poop question

  • Have you tried googling baby poop.  i did last night and it came back with alot of different types and what those generally mean.

  • I have always been told peanut butter.

DS had super loose stools that were mucousy on certain formulas because he had a milk and soy protein intolerance. I am not saying that is what your LO has though. DS threw up his formula and it was obvious.

The formula sounds like it may not be settling well but I am wondering why after 8 weeks it starts. I would call your pedi and ask their advice but I would think changing to a sensitive formula might be an option.

  • C always had runny poop, they didn't get thicker until he started cereal and avocadoes at 4-6 months.

  • Ds is almost two months and his range from runny to peanut butter. Dr told this is completely normal.
