I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for purchasing Disney world tickets. Is there a trick to getting them at a good price?? Any tips for managing with a 1yo? Dh is in Orlando for work and were convoying him over the long weekend and thought we'd do a day or two in the parks. Tia!!!
Re: Tix for Disney?
Avoid those "discount ticket" businesses like the plague. Most of them will sell you worthless used or expired tickets and waste your money. The only legit discounts are those offered by Disney itself and a small one through AAA. If you're a Florida resident, there's a discount for tickets of more than one day. If you're staying on property, there are also sometimes discounted hotel rooms and dining. Calling Disney directly is probably the best way to figure out if there's a package that could save you money.
As far as visiting with a toddler, my best advice is take things at your own pace and don't try to do too much. Other tips: If you're there in the warm months, be sure to bring or buy plenty of water to keep everyone hydrated and cool. Pick up fast passes as soon as you arrive in the park. Try some of the shows for a relaxing, LO-friendly alternative to rides with long lines. Check out the baby center in each park for quiet nursing rooms, extra big changing tables and extra baby supplies. Check out the Disney Mom's Panel on the Disney website for more good tips on traveling with little ones; I've gotten tons of great tips there.
Good luck and have fun on your vacation!
I think they are pretty standard as far a price, unless you can get them from an ITT office on a military base but you have to have the military ID to activate at the gates plus they are only offered for 4 days. You will only need to purchase a ticket for yourself. Your one year old gets free park admission until age 3.
You may decide whether you want park hopper are one park per day tickets. The later is slightly more expensive.
Visiting with a toddler...I took my 23 month old (DS1) and 26 month old (DS2) the two times we went (August 09 & March 2012). Don't know whether you have a boy or a girl but...where you go depends on what you like..,
Animal kingdom~ has a really cool safari my kids like, they liked camp mickey (where you meet everyone), Dinoland was still a little old for my 3
Magic Kingdom~ must do...the castle is there, lots of rides even for the little ones, princesses, etc
Hollywood studios~ is a really chill day, lots of shows (which help stay cool), there is a playhouse disney show and more of the pixar characters
Epcot wasn't really for toddlers, too much walking but Nemo is great.
I suggest:
1. stroller~ a comfy one
2. lots of water, stay hydrated...my kids love having popicles too. they sell them in the park. They are $ tho.
3. extra sunscreen
4. character meals~ are a quick way to kill two birds 1. eating and 2. meeting characters but they can be $$$, again your daughter will be free and most are buffet. If you can get a breakfast reserved prior to the park opening, you can get some awesome pictures and be there early enough to get on all your fav rides
5. fast passes~ as soon as you get to the park.
6. baby changing stations are awesome and kept really clean, place to nurse, warm up baby food, rock, etc
7. The first time we went we found it best to have stroller naps, the second time~ no so much (but my kids were older)...just take things as they come
8. extra cash
I love Disney and can't wait to go again.
Yes stay away from too good to be true deals that you might find when you are out and about. Disney is on their game when it comes to tickets and making sure people don't use unuesed tickets from other people. To get in, you have to get your finger print scanned, so buying someone else's unused tickets would be worthless.
However there are a few ways to get discounts.
1. The Official Orlando Visitors bureau or https://www.visitorlando.com/ sells discounted tickets at their office.
2. As PPs have mentioned you can get discounted tickets at the local AAA offices if you are a member.
3. I haven't used them but I have heard really good things about ordering from this website
https://www.undercovertourist.com/
4. I have also heard good things about this place
https://www.kgstickets.com/
Oh and stay away from Timeshare sales presentations.
The must for disney:
1-Dining plan and make reservations before your vacation
2-Don't waste your time waiting in line to meet characters just to character meals
3-Bring a gallon size cooler jug filled with icy water but mostly ice.
4-Stay on Disney property, and use their transportation
5-Take plenty of breaks
6-A big stroller for all your stuff.
