When I was pregnant and thinking about childbirth, the thing that freaked me out the most was pooping during delivery. I was sure it would be humiliating if it happened to me...then I discovered that there is nothing remotely dignified about childbirth. I didn't even notice that I pooped and had to get DH to tell me.
What about the rest of the June mommies?

Re: Ok ladies, be honest.
no x2, BUT...
when i was pushing my son out, i was holding back a little because i was scared i was going to poop. when i made my peace with pooping on the table, i gave it all i had and he was out 3 minutes later. this time, i pushed to poop on the table and got her out within 8 minutes.
i had done castor oil with DS, so i don't think i had much left, and i pooped like 30,000 times the day before and day i delivered DD.
** i had a csection
I did & I didn't really care. I pushed as hard as I could. I just wanted the pain to be over.
My dignity went out the window when I stepped in that hospital!

I was also terrified of pooping. I had my two sisters and my DH in the delivery room with me. While pushing, I smelled something bad, and said, "Oh my god, did I just POOP?" To which my sister replied, "No, I totally farted." We laughed. A half hour later, I asked the same thing again, to which DH said, "Dude, you totally pooped like an hour ago but Lauren claimed it as her own fart. Stop worrying about it."
That's love, baby!
girl, i threw up at least a dozen times and i was only in the hospital for 5 hours of my 7 hour labour. i had 2 of the trays in rotation to keep up. can't say i was surprised - i used to get terrible motion sickness, followed by 18 weeks of morning sickness, of course i was going to barf my way through labour.
on to the question at hand, i pooped minutes after my water broke (in the toilet) and again when we got to the hospital (in the toilet). when it was time to push, i decided that i didn't care if i pooped because it meant i was pushing the right way. i don't know if i did and neither does dh - he was up by my head and only looked down to see the baby's head coming out. that being said, they did change the pads and stuff i was laying on about halfway through my pushing, we suspect it was because i pooped, although dh says he didn't "smell anything."
That's funny! Your sister is a good sport.
this is awesome

I drank castor oil the day before, so I was all cleaned out.
But, I wouldn't care if I did. I think I held back with DD#1 and maybe that's why I couldn't get her out. So, with this one I decided I was putting everything on the table....even if it was poop.

I was induced on a Friday morning and pretty much had most of the day to use the bathroom. I tried to poop as much as I could and I guess it worked because I did not poop during delivery.
The nurse was holding a warm wet wash cloth over my "area", and I assume it was there in case I did end up pooping.
