Bringing Up Bebe book

Hi new moms!  I hope you're enjoying your new LOs and getting some decent rest.  My DH read this book during my pregnancy, raved about it, and I'm just starting now.  So far I'm thoroughly enjoying it -- I'm not itching to move to France just yet (although their maternity leave sure beats what we have here in the States), but it has certainly given me some new perspectives on parenting, and it's pretty entertaining to boot.  A good friend of mine with a 1 yo just started as well and she was telling me how she wished she had read this before she had her baby (she's also a FTM).  Just curious if any of you ladies have read, or are currently reading, Bringing Up Bebe, and if so, what do you think?!

Happy burping/diapering and snuggling :)

Re: Bringing Up Bebe book

  • I am dying to read this and 'How Eskimos Keep Their Babies Warm'. Neither for parenting tips, more for fun and perspective.

  • I actually asked my pedi if at night I should feed her at her first wimper or wait till she was crying. She recommended I waited until she was crying so she was good and awake and so I didn't start bad habits and then she recommended this book. I'm actually venturing out today to get this and the wonder weeks.

  • I'm going to put the Wonder Weeks and How Eskimos Keep Their Babies Warm, they look great...thank ladies!!  Happy Reading
  • **put them on my list, that is :)
  • I read it about 4 months ago and loved it. I took away so many good ideas and lessons. Children need to learn the entertain themselves (amen to that), and they need their own autonomy. Parents still have a life outside their children. Life does not revolve around your child. They enter into the family, and follow your lifestyle, structure and rules.

Also loved the bits about diet and feeding. No snacking on junk all day long, and then kids actually eat their meals. And serving the veggies first. Brilliant

  • I finally got this book from the library after being on the waiting list for months.  I just started, but it's good to see some of the techniques we already do were recommended.  It actually sounds like the way I was raised.  We let DD self soothe tonight to get her to fall asleep for a nap - took about 10 minutes of fussing but she fell asleep without her paci.  :)

  • I read it and Dr Michel Cohen ( who's mentioned in the book) is my DD's pediatrician. I loved the book too and love that my daughters doc is a "celebrity pediatrician" lol
