Babies on the Brain

***PSA: Infant and childrens medicine recall***

Tylenol, Motrin, Zyrtec and others.  Because they don't meet quality standards.  Fvcking douche bags.  I heard it half asleep and got up to let you ladies know and to check what we have.  Pissed is not the word.  I don't care if I take bad Tylenol or have to chuck out a huge bottle but don't fvck with my kid's stuff.

  • Sweetie, I'm sure NSWB will be okay.  I'm glad you posted this.  Thank you!
  • I know.  He's fine.  But I'm supposed to give him stuff that is OK.  How can I do that iif I can't trust the companies that are supposed to make sure it is safe?

I am so furious I am crying.  Hard.

  • Sigh.  There goes any chance at all of a decent night's sleep.  There is another bottle of tylenol in the house and I can't find it.  I'm going to be a raving maniac until I get my hands on it because I know it's a recall too.  And i have to get my mother to check the motrin she has.  Plus call the pedi because WTF am I supposed to give him if he runs a fever?  And double check that the daycare doesn't have recalled bottles.

I can't wrap my head around how they let this happen.  Thank God my child is bigger that most kids his size and absolutely able to handle a higher dose of that stuff.

Thank you for posting in you FB status.  And here come the tears again.

  • Sweetie- relax.  No good will come from the freak out now.  Write down everything you need to do (call your Mom, pedi etc) and get some rest.  Your boy is going to keep you busy.

Sleep.  I promise you everything will be okay.

  • Wee, both Caleb and Wyatt have taken the recalled stuff too. Gah. Thank you for posting this information. C has been taking it more often because he's a teething maniac right now. Oye.

  • Will I be that psycho mother if I print out the NDC numbers and bring them in for the daycare women?  I'm usually not that person.

OK, you are right.  I need to breathe and go to sleep.  I have to work at 9am.  I'll find something absurd on television to distract me.

  • That won't make you a psycho mother, just one who wants to keep babies safe.  Nothing wrong with that, love.

Go get a drink of water and relax yourself.  Better yet, sneak in and listen to NSWB sleep.

  • Thank you for posting this. I am looking at 3 bottles of tylenol that DD has taken doses out of and I am pissed! Now I am going to have to check the bottles at daycare and my parent's house.I wonder if all of the lots are bad. I think I will call the number tomorrow and find out.

    WTF.

  • I'm pissed right now too.  I have a recalled bottle and I am pretty sure I gave it to DD after her one month shots and often when she was teething.  It is the small size, but it is 3/4 of the way gone.  It also pisses me off that they are being so vague on why it was recalled and don't really have any instructions on what to do with the recalled product.
  • ITA, DNK.  Plus if you have a smaller child, you need to be concerned about what a possible higher dose of any of that stuff is going to do in the log run.

We aren't even talking about Lot numbers,  it's PRODUCT numbers.  Certain batches aren't bad, it is entire product lines.  And it means that nothing will be on the shelves.  What is a parent supposed to do if their child spikes a 103 fever?  If I call the pedi, are the going to Rx the same thing?  How will I know that stuff hasn't been subjuect to the same or similar lax quality standards.

It's so totally overwhelming.  I don't know it I should chuck what we have out or keep it for records.  For the time being, I took a sharpie and put X's and wrote NO all over the cap.  I also circled the product number on the label.

  • Thanks Wee,  i saw your FB status and immediately checked.  Of course I gave her recalled tylenol just last night after her 4 month shots and a few nights ago for teething.
  • Hmmm, it doesn't say anything about generics? Anyone know if these are affected?

This is what I would like to know.  We only buy the Target  brand (dude it's MUCH cheaper!) and I'm curious if I should be concerned about that stuff.  I just bought 2 bottles of the Target motrin last night.

  • I don't think Tylenol makes any generics, so I am guessing that would be OK?  I'm going to call the pedi now, although I am sure they are overwhelmed with calls.

    Sigh.

  • Thank you for posting this. I sent it to my sister who has a 14 month old. She said she has only generics, so hopefully those are OK.

It's ridiculous that SO MANY of their products have been recalled. Absolutely ridiculous.

That's a good idea. Gavin has taken both the motrin AND tylenol this week. He took the tylenol last night :(  I am PISSED beyond belief.
